About This Pub

Ah, Castle House – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away on Walney with the sea right there to enjoy. From the reviews, folks absolutely rave about the friendly staff and landlord who make you feel right at home, and it's spot on if you're with your dog after a nice walk along the beach. The cosy inside spot with windows overlooking the water is perfect for a quiet pint and some of those tasty ales, and on a sunny day, the outdoor tables are a treat. But, let's be honest, it's not without its quirks – food-wise, you're mostly out of luck for anything hot, so you might want to pop in elsewhere first if you're peckish. Plus, it has that classic darts-heavy setup, which is fun if you're into it, but could feel a tad dated if you're after something more modern. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening by the coast, and I'd say give it a go if you're in the area for that genuine, no-fuss pub experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location is absolutely spot on, right by the sea with stunning views that make you feel like you're on holiday
  • Staff and the landlord are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready for a chat
  • It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a pit stop
  • The interior is cosy and inviting, perfect for settling in with a pint and enjoying the atmosphere
  • They've got a great selection of ales, and the bar staff take the time to let them settle properly
Cons
  • Food options are quite limited; they don't usually serve hot meals, so you might need to plan ahead
  • It has a very traditional, darts-oriented feel that could come across as a bit old-school for some tastes
  • There's no website or strong online presence, which makes it trickier to check updates or get more info in advance
  • Not many recent reviews, so it might be a quieter spot these days, which isn't ideal if you're after a lively buzz

Great English pub, lovely ales. Very cosy inside, can sit by the window looking out to the sea. Also has tables outside for when the weather is good. The barman waits for our ales to settle then tops us up. They usually don't do hot food, but once had spicy little meatballs for us. We've come here everyday that we've been on the island. Fantastic value for money, ales are £3.10 a pint

Nice place. Was a bit like going into a pub back when i was a kid. Very darts orientated and looks like they have been very successful as well. Friendly staff and manager. Will definitely go back again next time we go to Walney Island.
