About This Pub
Ah, the Carpenters Arms – it's one of those pubs in Cambridge that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? I've heard from folks and seen it myself that they do a smashing job with their stone-baked pizzas and craft beers, making it ideal for a relaxed catch-up with friends or catching the big match on the screens. The quiz nights are a real highlight, getting everyone involved for a bit of friendly competition, and it's so welcoming to dogs, which is just lovely if you're popping in with your pooch. They've got some great deals too, like the lazy lunch options that won't break the bank. On the flip side, though, service can be a mixed bag; sometimes the staff are spot on and helpful, but other times it feels like you're being overlooked, which is a shame when you're trying to enjoy your pint. And while the pizzas are generally delicious, they can be a bit dry in spots, so you might want to ask for extra sauce. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a whale of a time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The pizzas are absolutely spot on – stone-baked and full of flavour, perfect for sharing with mates over a casual meal.
-
It's a fantastic spot for craft beer lovers, with a solid selection that makes you feel right at home if you're into your brews.
-
They've got a lively atmosphere with live sports on the telly and fun events like quiz nights, which are brilliant for a laugh with friends.
-
Dog-friendly vibes make it a welcoming place if you're out with your four-legged companion – always a plus in my book.
-
The team can be really accommodating, like sorting out better tables or handling events smoothly, which adds a nice personal touch.
Cons
-
Service can sometimes fall flat, like when the bar staff seem a bit unresponsive or overlook you, which puts a damper on the experience.
-
The pizzas might be a tad dry in the middle now and then, crying out for a bit more sauce to keep things juicy.
-
The beer selection is decent but not exactly mind-blowing – it's okay, but you might wish for more variety if you're a real ale enthusiast.

The food in the past great pizzas can't fault them.
Was in the carpenters this weekend, had a few drinks, went to meet some friends at another pub, returned abit later to be completely blanked by the bar staff when stood at the bar, they served other customers who came up to the bar after I did, last orders hadnt been called as was arou d 10pm, only for the member of staff to just wonder off leaving the bar unattended and at least 2 other customers waiting for service who likewise had been ignored by the member of staff.
Pretty disappointing service
Great pub in Cambridge to watch football with lovely food! Watched the champions league this week and enjoyed the 3 small plates deal with the bao buns a highlight! I was running late with work for my table and max the manager was so nice and relaxed to deal with and he even put me on a better table when I arrived! Pizzas also looked v nice. Lovely local feel from all the staff really added to my eve! Will certainly be back when In Cambridge
Love this place. Great food with really good lunch time deals. Ok selection of on tap beers. Dog friendly is added bonus
The Carpenter's provided 35 pizzas for our school karaoke night -- they were BRILLIANT. Everything exactly as ordered, ready for the time we requested - on the dot and still steaming hot. The pizzas themselves were delicious and so well received by all the families. We also appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff were in making the ordering process so easy and helping us to carry them all to the car. Highly recommend for parties etc.
Cozy spacious pub with pleasant food. Great for events and group catch-ups.
The pizza can have a bit more sauce as it’s slightly dry in the middle, but the varieties all have nice flavors on a good dough. It’s great to enjoy pizza with many people so we get to try the flavors. Just wish my pesky have more anchovies and tomato sauce and capers :3 My friend’s buffalo wing ranch is also fun and tasty. Prosciutto smells nice on pizza too.
Rocket salad is refreshing. Pesto and balsamic go well together and is really aromatic.
Our guests said the massaman chicken curry is coconuty and nice and beef lasagna is good as well.
Service is really friendly and attentive. Thank you^^
