About This Pub
Ah, Camden Head – it's one of those pubs that really captures the essence of a traditional London spot, tucked away in Camden Passage with its beautiful etched glass windows and that timeless Victorian feel. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the website, folks absolutely rave about the food; it's fresh, flavourful pub grub with plenty of choices to suit different tastes, and it's served up just right. The staff often get a big thumbs up for being helpful and creating a welcoming environment, which is perfect if you're popping in for a quick pint or a full meal. Plus, with the beer garden and outdoor seating, it's ideal for a sunny afternoon catch-up with mates. On the flip side, it's not all perfect – some bar staff can be a bit inconsistent, and the cocktails aren't worth the bother, so you might want to play it safe with the ales. It does get busy, mind you, so booking ahead could save you the hassle. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out, especially if you're into history and good company, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – fresh, full of flavour, and they've got options for everyone, including vegan and vegetarian choices, making it a great spot for a proper pub meal.
-
The atmosphere is brilliant; it's a historic Grade II listed building with that classic Victorian charm, plus there's a lovely beer garden and outdoor seating for when the weather's nice.
-
Staff are generally fantastic – super friendly and helpful, especially if you're new to the area or visiting from abroad, and they handle things like emergencies with real care.
-
It's family-friendly and dog-friendly, so you can bring the little ones or your furry friend along, and they've got WiFi and facilities for those with disabilities.
-
They've got fun events and specials, like Pride celebrations and seasonal menus, which add a nice touch to the experience.
Cons
-
Some of the bartenders can be a bit hit or miss – while many are lovely, others might not be as welcoming, so your service could vary.
-
I'd steer clear of the cocktails; one chap mentioned they're not up to scratch, so stick to the beers or other drinks if you're after something reliable.
-
It can get quite busy at times, especially around peak hours, which might make it a tad tricky to find a seat or get served quickly.

Camden Head was everything we expected in a London pub. The drinks and food were excellent. Lily, our server and bartender, was fantastic and very helpful for Americans on their first time visit to England.
Amazing food and a beautiful pub, very happy with everything and the workers were great
Food was great, full of flavour and came at the right temperature. Service was timely and the staff handled an emergency situation very well, they’re also very friendly ensuring customers are satisfied! Atmosphere was great not too busy and music playing softly in the background. Do make a booking ahead if you have a big group (more than 3/4) especially if you plan to come in the late afternoon/evening. Overall, great visit! Sorry for the bad photos - food just looked to good to wait haha
Great pub atmosphere with very nice, and abundant outdoor seating. Some bartenders are nice, some not so much. Don’t get the cocktails though 🫠
Close to my hotel, had a hankering for fish n chips. Camden Head did not disappoint! It was busy around 1530h but the great ladies at the bar let me sit at a "reserved" table in the bar area. A lovely, fresh meal washed down with a couple of Golden Hen ales. Definately worth a visit. There was outside covered seating also but it was too chilly for me that day.
Lively bar/restaurant I'd return to next time in London
