About This Pub

Ah, Cafe Metro Bar – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you find it. Tucked away in Bilston, this family-run pub is all about celebrating great beers, with an impressive lineup that includes everything from classic ales to crafty new brews, and they even made it into the Good Beer Guide, which is no small feat. The atmosphere is just spot on – think cosy chats, live music that gets the toes tapping, and staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, like you're part of the gang. Pair that with some scrumptious cobs for a bite, and you've got a recipe for a proper relaxing evening. But, let's be honest, it's not without its quirks; the entrance situation is a bit confusing, so you might end up on a mini adventure just to get inside, and with limited hours, it's best planned around rather than a spontaneous stop. Still, the high praise from regulars shows it's worth the effort – if you're into good drinks and a genuine local feel, this is a spot I'd happily recommend for a laid-back night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with over 300 options including real ales, craft beers, stouts, and ciders – it's like a treasure trove for anyone who loves a good pint, and they update it weekly to keep things fresh.
  • The staff are always smiling and eager to help, creating a really warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Those cobs are a proper treat – freshly made and delicious, perfect for a quick bite alongside your drink.
  • It's got a lovely, relaxing vibe with live music and events that add a fun twist, making it a great spot for unwinding or catching up with mates.
  • With a stellar 4.8 rating from heaps of reviews, it's clear folks keep coming back for the quality and that genuine local charm.
Cons
  • Getting to the place can be a bit of a faff – the front entrance isn't in use anymore, so you'll have to wander around to the back via Chaplins Chippy, which might put some off on a first visit.
  • The opening hours are quite limited, only open four days a week in the evenings and weekends, so it's not ideal if you're after a spontaneous midweek pint.
  • They do run out of popular beers or items during busy events, which can be disappointing if you're set on something specific.
  • As a small family-run spot, it might feel a tad less polished compared to bigger chains, and the location in Bilston town centre isn't the most straightforward to find.

Came here to do some work... This place is a little Gem.. Pub / Live music venue with pool room upstairs... Great atmosphere coming from the regulars, stunning decor and friendly staff. The front of the building doesn't open... Access to the building is round the back through the small carpark. If you're into live music and want a great night out this would be a good choice...
