About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Bulls Head, it's got that real homely vibe you'd expect from a tucked-away spot in Rochdale – perfect for nipping in after a countryside stroll. The staff are just brilliant, always on hand with a smile and making sure everything runs like clockwork, which really adds to the cosy feel. The food's another highlight; those portions are massive, like the cheese and onion pie that one person mentioned leaving half of because it was so filling – talk about getting your money's worth! It's great for a casual get-together or even a birthday bash, with plenty of positive vibes from folks who've had a top-notch time there. On the downside, though, it's not all perfect; a few have noted that the veg can be a bit overdone and lacking that fresh punch, and the Sunday dinner didn't quite deliver on flavour for everyone, with the beef seeming more ready-made than homemade. Still, with most experiences being spot on and that high rating backing it up, I'd say it's well worth popping by for a pint and a plate – just keep your expectations in check for the odd off day.

Old country pub, nice stop off after a few hours walking, had cheese and onion pie, was okay, large portion really, had to leave half, so could have served less and would have been happy.
Place was nice and quiet. Had plenty in eating but everyone seemed quite respectable of others dining so it was a pleasant experience.
Has WiFi as signal isn't great so just ask for password.
Would pop back after another walk with my dog and sons one day.
The pub itself and the staff were absolutely great—really welcoming and attentive, no faults there at all.
We had the Sunday dinner, but unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what we were hoping for. The vegetables were quite soft, and the meal lacked flavour. The beef seemed to be pre-packaged rather than freshly cooked, which was a bit disappointing.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere, though, and would happily return for a drink—just maybe not for the Sunday roast.
Our friend booked a table for 6pm on a Sunday, we were a little late ordering but the wonderful staff still made sure to accommodate us even though their kitchen closed at 7. Warm friendly service throughout, the food was wonderful (I had the cheese and onion pie which was HUGE and tasted gorgeous!), and the general atmosphere is lovely.
100% recommend for a family meal or a catch up with friends, the place is a gem! Thank you!!!
4 of us visiting for lunch on Wednesday 23rd Jan 25 after a lovely 5.5 mile walk around the Piethorn valley. We sampled the well kept Titanic Ale before ordering our meals that were Steak n Kidney pie, Steak n Kidney pudding and 2 Rag puddings all with gravy, a generous portion of chips and a large bowl of mushy peas. I have to state that we cleared our plates and enjoyed the food immensely!
Friendly lady behind the bar made us very welcome as did the few locals present. A proper pub with good warm feeling and pleasing decor.
Very much recommend a visit and intend to return very soon!
Definitely favourite, food excellent, great atmosphere, quick service, generous portions, good value, landlady is a treasure, all the staff are great. Highly recommend. Had a few birthday celebrations here couldn't fault it.
