About This Pub

Ah, the Bulls Head – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper hidden gem in London, tucked away in Chiswick with stunning views over the Thames that make you forget you're in the city. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the atmosphere is spot on for a laid-back afternoon or evening; it's cosy, traditional, and they've got this warm, welcoming service that really adds to the experience – think staff who'll sort you out if you need to switch tables or have a special request. The food's another winner, with pub classics and fresh seasonal dishes that folks are raving about, like that Signature Burger that's apparently a cut above the rest, and their Sunday roasts sound like they'd make any weekend feel special. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; a couple of reviews pointed out that some portions feel a tad skimpy, which could be a downer if you're after a hearty feed. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers – I'd say it's worth a visit for the location and the good times, just maybe plan for a starter or two if you're extra hungry. What do you reckon, fancy giving it a go sometime?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location is absolutely spot on, right by the River Thames in Chiswick – it's a lovely spot for a pint and some people-watching, especially on a sunny day.
  • The staff are so welcoming and attentive; they've got that knack for making you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or a full meal.
  • The food is a real highlight – think hearty pub classics and seasonal specials that hit the spot, like their Signature Burger which one mate raved about as being top-notch.
  • It's a cosy, traditional pub with a Grade II listed charm, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a Sunday roast in good company.
Cons
  • A few folks have mentioned that some portions can be on the smaller side, like with certain starters or mains, which might leave you feeling a bit short-changed.
  • It can be quieter than expected on rainy days, which isn't ideal if you're after a lively buzz, though it does make for a more relaxed vibe.

Arranged to meet with friends on a wet June Saturday afternoon / evening so may explain why bit quieter than usual. Had the little room at the top of the pub to ourselves which has a great view over the River Thames and railway bridge keeping the young children in our party entertained plus we had a dog with us. Very attentive service (calling out Kelly and Richard); decent choice of typical pub fayre on the menu plus nice selection of specials including a tasty grilled hake with new potatoes and asparagus; good selection of beers (including alcohol-free).

What a lovely pub. Very friendly staff, beautifully cooked food and right on the Thames. We were only in the area for two nights, but both nights we ate there

Friendly enough service but not gonna lie, some of the portions were small. One slice of ciabatta for the bruschetta starter and one small fish cake for the fish cake main were embarrassingly small. To be fair when they asked how everything was and we told them, they did discount a main. Sort of feel for the staff as this is no doubt a head office portion control issue. What arrived was tasty enough though.

I had no intention in writing a review, however after a couple of bites of my Signature Burger I had to give credit where credit is due. The Signature Burger here at the Bulls Head was delicious, and I don't say that lightly! I've had a few burgers over the years but this one is hard to beat. I don't think I've tasted a Burger so intensively beefy and juicy, hopefully this explains my half eaten Burger photo...de...lish...ous! I also had the vanilla custard slice with strawberries which again was a delight to eat. Staff were very attentive, service was quick and very reasonable prices. A great experience.

Had a fab Mother's day celebration with my daughter and her man, and his Mum. We had a booking inside, but it was such a fab day we ended up asking to eat outside. The staff and manager accommodated us, and when the tide came up 2 of us were served dessert inside, while another 2 outside- excellent "navigation" (gettit?) and flexibility on your part
