About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Steam Packet, it's one of those places that just sticks in your mind as a proper hidden gem along the Thames in Chiswick. The food is spot on – they use fresh, local ingredients to whip up simple yet tasty dishes, from light lunches to hearty Sunday roasts, and don't even get me started on the craft ales and well-curated wine list; it's all rather brilliant for a relaxed catch-up. The views from the terrace are just breathtaking, especially on a sunny day, and it's only a short walk from Kew Bridge Station, making it ideal for a riverside stroll followed by a few drinks. The team there are dead helpful and create a really welcoming atmosphere, which makes you feel right at home. On the downside, if you're popping in for a quiet evening, it might not always pan out that way – events like weddings can crank up the noise, and there have been a few mentions of minor issues, like a dish coming out cold, though they sort it out promptly. All in all, it's a fantastic spot for enjoying good company and a bit of nature, but it's worth checking if anything's on to avoid any surprises. I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a balanced mix of quality and charm.

Food was excellent. Would have given top for service and atmosphere but there was a wedding party on when we visited, so it was nice to start but then so many people arrived you couldn't hear yourself think, and on top of that music was playing at the same time. Wedding guests were gathered around peoples tables as they were trying to eat being very loud so not great. For that many people for the party it may have been better to close of a private function instead.
Been there several times over the past few weeks. Excellent pub with amazing views from the terrace. Super friendly service. Food is fantastic and really good quality, my 15yo son tells me it’s the best burger he’s ever had, I’ve had various things and even a simple side salad is really imaginative. A real find!!! Thank you!
Was recommended this pub by a local, so we walked the Thames path as it was only 30 mins away.
What a fabulous find x
Lovely traditional pub with lots if room and a great choice of drinks and food.
Fantastic service from the bar, could describe and recommend the drinks available.
We decided to stop for a roast, and so glad we did. It was very tasty indeed.
If we are ever back kn the area, we are from the South coast, then we would 100% return.

Very quaint pub by the river. All the staff were friendly & professional and keen for you to spend. They kept checking our glasses and suggesting more.... Overall, the food was good but one meal came out cold but they were quick to ez rectify that. We had the steak burger & chips, beer battered fish and chips, two chicken & leak pies mashed potato and veg & some sides of halloumi fries and cauliflower cheese. The food was very nice and the portion size was OK.
Lovely river-view (we had dinner here in a sunny summer day in 2024), good beers and food, very nice staff and interior.
