About This Pub
Oh, Builders Arms is one of those hidden gems in Darlington that I think you'd really enjoy if you're after a proper, laid-back pub experience. From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this lovely, classic English charm that's more relaxed than your typical old-school boozer – imagine sinking into a comfy spot with a pint in hand and friendly faces around. The staff, especially the manager Katie who's mentioned a fair bit, go out of their way to make sure everyone feels looked after, and the food sounds spot on, like that cod and chips that's got people excited for their next visit. It's got a solid 4.5 rating, which says a lot about the good times had by most. But, and I have to be straight with you, there was this one review where things went south – someone felt really unwelcome due to what seemed like rude behaviour from the landlord, which is a shame and might make you think twice if you're not in the mood for any surprises. Overall, though, I'd say it's worth popping in for a drink or a bite; just keep in mind it might not be buzzing every night, given it's a bit under the radar. If you're in the area, give it a go and see for yourself – it's all about that community feel, innit?

Cons
-
There was one off-putting experience where someone felt rudely turned away, which could put a dampener on things.

It seems a bit quiet online with no website, so it might not be the easiest place to check out in advance.
-
The operating hours look a tad inconsistent from the info available, which might confuse visitors trying to plan a visit.

Walking past on a red hot evening and called in for a well earned drink. Friendly staff and plenty of choice.
I bloody love this pub! It’s a fun, friendly and welcoming place; with a classic and classy English feel, but more relaxed than that suggests. The food is delicious, and manager Katie makes everyone welcome and ensures customers feel well looked after. I’ll be coming back for the cod and chips soon!
Excellent pub by far the best pint of Guinness I have had anywhere in the town and a great warm welcome from the landlord and staff
No respect refused to be served because doesn’t like the look of a person. Lanlord very rude would not recommend made to feel very unwelcome.
Good local town pub with plenty of friendly regular customers
