About This Pub
Ah, Brennans' Bar, what a lovely find in the heart of Belfast! From what I've gathered chatting about it, it's got that classic pub charm that just draws you in – think clean, cosy nooks where you can settle in for a chat over a pint. The staff really stand out; they're so warm and accommodating, always up for a laugh or helping you out with the menu, which makes the whole experience feel personal and fun. The food's a real highlight too – we've heard raves about the traditional stew and fish and chips, and even the zero-percent Guinness gets a thumbs up for being surprisingly spot-on. Plus, with drinks at a fair price, it's easy on the wallet for a casual catch-up. On the flip side, though, the operating hours can be a bit confusing from the info floating about, so you might end up double-checking before heading out. And without a website, it's not the easiest to plan ahead, which could be a minor hassle in this digital age. Overall, it's a solid spot with more highs than lows, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after that genuine pub vibe – just go in with realistic expectations, and you're in for a treat!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – so friendly and welcoming, just like you'd expect in a proper Irish pub, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got some cracking food on offer, like the traditional stew and fish and chips that's cooked to perfection, perfect for a hearty meal with mates.
-
It's a clean and cosy spot, ideal for relaxing with a pint or enjoying a bite, with that warm atmosphere that makes you want to linger.
-
Drinks are good value too, with pints at a reasonable price like £4.95, which is a nice touch for keeping things affordable without skimping on quality.
Cons
-
The operating hours look a bit muddled up in the listings, which could leave you scratching your head about when it's actually open, especially on Sundays.
-
There's no website or online presence to speak of, so it's tricky to check the menu or get more details before you pop in, which might put some folks off.
-
With an overall rating of 4.2, it seems like not every visit is spot-on, so there might be the odd off day with service or vibes that aren't quite as stellar as the best reviews suggest.

A nice pub where we enjoyed an all day fry and a couple of pints. The place is clean and cozy, and the staff is very friendly (like all Irish people) and welcoming.
Had a mates meet up in Brennans in Belfast opposite the Europa. A range of selected pints were £4.95 which was a good intro. We had planned to move on for a late lunch elsewhere but the staff were so accommodating and it was comfortable we asked for the bar menu. Between us we had chicken curry half & half, chicken coupons and chips and fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed and the portions were big. I can honestly say my fish & chips was up there with the best...photo attached. Highly recommend
Brennan’s Bar in Belfast is a hidden gem! We loved the traditional stew, the famous fish and chips, and the surprisingly good zero-percent Guinness. Fantastic food and a great atmosphere!
Brennan's Bar: A Gem in Belfast
Brennan's Bar in Belfast is a must-visit for anyone seeking a cozy atmosphere and delicious food. The service was impeccable – friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of fish and chips, which was cooked to perfection. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Brennan's Bar is a great spot to savor authentic Irish hospitality.
This was the first place I went to for lunch on a recommendation and the last place I sent to before I left a few days later and the young lady actually remembered me!!!! I wish I got her name (blonde hair usually in a ponytail by the bar) very friendly! The food was so good! It was my luck that each time I went, the chef hadn't started yet 😆 so I had to wait. Really great atmosphere whether with friends or solo like I was! Great memory! Will be back!!!!
