About This Pub

Ah, Brass Monkey – what a lovely little find in Liverpool! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its top-notch cocktails that folks rave about, like that standout Espresso Martini that's got people coming back for more. The decor is just brilliant, all quirky and unique with those colourful lampshades and umbrellas dangling overhead, making it feel like a world away from the usual high street spots. And the staff? They're an absolute delight, always ready for a friendly natter while they whip up your drink, which helps create that warm, inviting atmosphere everyone's talking about. On the flip side, it's a small bar, so it can feel a bit snug if you're with a big group or fancy more room to spread out, and its original style might not click with everyone if you're in the mood for something more straightforward and traditional. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening – I'd say give it a go if you're up for an adventure, but keep in mind it might not suit every occasion.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are absolutely spot on – especially the Espresso Martini, which comes highly recommended and is one of the best I've heard about.
  • The decor is quirky and original, with multicoloured lampshades and inverted umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, giving it a slightly Arabic-inspired feel that's unlike any other spot in Liverpool.
  • The staff are friendly and attentive, always up for a chat while they mix your drinks, which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
  • It's got brilliant vibes overall, perfect for a relaxed night out or stumbling upon a hidden gem when you're exploring the city.
Cons
  • It's a small and intimate bar, which means it can get a bit cosy and might not be ideal if you're after more space or a larger group gathering.
  • While the drinks are great, one review hinted it might feel a tad original or niche, so it could put off those who prefer a more traditional pub experience rather than something a bit out there.

We just called in for a drink as it looked very interesting from the outside. The interior isn't like any other pub around but it's all very original, it feels slightly Arabic in looks. There are multicoloured lampshades and inverted umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. There's also a table that's screwed to the floor with very ornamental swing seats either side of the table, which I would imagine would be great fun when you've had a few pints in you. Nice staff and a good choice of beers. I'm sure I'll be back again soon.

Stumbled across this special special place in my first few days of moving to liverpool. The staff is friendly, vibes are great and interiors are gorgeous. The drinks are so well made and I highly recommend the cocktails- especially the Espresso Martini, which is one of the best I’ve had. Brass monkey is the perfect place to have a quite, wholesome evening- ps: sitting on the swings is the best part!

Little hidden gem of a place: absolutely loved the unique atmosphere and decor. Drinks were reasonable and the cocktails were on point. Will definitely be on my list anytime I'm in Liverpool.

Came here for a couple of drinks and had a really lovely time. The staff are really friendly and attentive, and have a bit of a chat with you as they make your drinks up. The decor is quirky and charming with a few seats and tables in 3 different areas of the bar. It's quite a small and intimate bar. They had a good selection of beers, wines and spirits so something for everyone. Definitely recommend popping in if you're in the area!
