About This Pub
Ah, Bentley Green Beefeater – it's one of those places that feels like a reliable mate for a bite to eat in Walsall. From what I've gathered, the staff are just lovely, always chatting and making sure everything's just right, which really lifts the whole experience. The food's a winner too; think juicy steaks and budget-friendly lunch deals that won't break the bank, ideal for a casual get-together or even a family meal. They've got outdoor spots for when the weather's playing nice, and it's all conveniently located with free parking, so no faffing about. On the flip side, it's not all perfect – the vibe can be a tad underwhelming, more like a hotel canteen on a quiet night, and some folks have said the grub isn't always up to scratch, with a few niggles like background noise that might put a damper on things. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and friendly service, but if you're in the mood for something with a bit more sparkle, you might want to look elsewhere. Still, with an average rating around 4.1, it's clear plenty of people have had a great time here, so I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which really makes a visit here a pleasure.
-
The food is a real highlight; from perfectly cooked steaks to tasty deals like the daytime lunch offer with mains under £8, it's great value and hits the spot, especially for a hearty meal.
-
They've got a good selection of drinks and outdoor seating, perfect for soaking up the summer vibes or enjoying a relaxed catch-up with friends.
-
Plenty of options for different times of day, including breakfast and function rooms for events, plus handy free parking makes it easy to pop in without the hassle.
Cons
-
The atmosphere can feel a bit lacking at times, more like a straightforward hotel eatery than a cosy pub evening, which might disappoint if you're after something more lively.
-
Food quality isn't always spot-on; some dishes come across as just average, and there have been mentions of minor disruptions like noise from cleaning during service.
-
It might not stand out as a special night out spot, feeling more functional than fancy, especially if you're expecting a bit more ambiance for the price.

We stopped in spontaneously on the way to pick up the parents from the airport, and I can honestly say it was the best meal out we’ve had in quite some time. The staff were genuinely attentive, and the food was cooked to perfection. My steak was, without question, one of the best I’ve ever had — a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Miles our server was a real credit to the front of house, I asked for the chefs name as I was so impressed with the food and was told Ellis was the man I needed to mention, will definitely be returning again.
Very nice pub with good food and very friendly staff. Good selection of drinks. Plenty of seating outside.
Came for a business trip and got meal deal vouchers for breakfast and dinner, all of the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and some of the best customer service I have ever received, with all going above and beyond to help and upsell/ make recommend on the menu. Every I ate was yummy and cooked well!
The breakfast is a continental buffet with cook to order hot items for the breakfast menu. All cooked well, I even requested a bacon roll to go one morning for “on the road breakfast” which was greatly appreciated!
I wouldn’t Recommend the fish and chips and the burger meals, and the Black Forest cake was delicious!
(I personally wouldn’t Recommend the chicken and rib combo, I’ve had this at a few beefeaters although has been consistent, it’s not for me, I believe the chicken is dry/ chewy and what I enjoy about ribs in general is fresh, juicy, fall off the bone meat, which I don’t believe this meets the criteria, although not a bad meal I don’t believe it compares in quality with the rest of what I ate, additional at the time it is one of the higher cost items on the menu)
Staff were great , food was very average and zero ambiance for an evening out , really disappointing (someone was vacuuming another part of restaurant, we visited around 7pm ) we’d never been here before it felt like it’s fine as a food place for the hotel but not for an evening out . £5 extra for 2 prawns, food was cooked nice but nothing special at all , I had fillet steak and on reflection I should have questioned the cut, it had grissle and didn’t look like a fillet
Excellent lunch with the kids. Excellent service from the ladies provided. Food was lovely piping hot and all in good time. 3 hours free parking just enter your car reg as soon as you walk in. Would 100% recommend to everyone.
