About This Pub

Ah, Bbar – what a lovely little find in the heart of Victoria! I've got to say, popping in for a drink or a bite feels like stumbling upon a hidden corner of London that's both elegant and welcoming. The place is tucked away beneath this massive living wall, which adds a fresh, green touch to the bustling area near Buckingham Palace. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show – their fish and chips afternoon tea has people raving, with layers of tasty treats that keep coming. And the cocktails? They're spot on, especially if you're enjoying them on the terrace on a sunny day. It's family-friendly too, with events like Paint and Sip that let the little ones get creative while you unwind. The staff seem to go the extra mile, making sure everyone feels looked after, which is always a plus when you're out for a good time. On the flip side, it can be a bit subdued if you visit when it's not busy, so if you're after that electric pub atmosphere, you might want to time it right or head in on a weekend. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a balanced mix of good grub, drinks, and a touch of fun, without it feeling too posh or overly casual – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location is spot on, right near Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station, making it super convenient for a quick stop before the theatre or a day out.
  • The food is a real highlight – think delicious twists on classics like fish and chips or their 'Son of a Gun' burger, and don't miss the afternoon tea if you're in the mood for something special.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to explain the menu or make recommendations.
  • It's got a vibrant vibe with options like live sports screenings, a sunny terrace for cocktails, and fun events such as Paint and Sip sessions, which are great for families or a creative night out.
  • With a solid 4.5 rating from plenty of folks, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time without breaking the bank, as it's moderately priced.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit quiet and lacking in atmosphere during off-peak times, like early afternoons, which might not suit those after a lively buzz.
  • While the menu sounds exciting, some might find the options a tad limited if you're not in the mood for cocktails or pub grub.
  • Being in such a busy area, it might get a bit hectic during peak hours, so you could end up waiting for a table if you haven't booked ahead.

What a find!! I took my husband here for his birthday this afternoon. We had the Fish and chips afternoon tea and it was beautiful. Staff were attentive and explained everything. The food came quickly and all very delicious. From the fish and chips to the variety of cakes and then the scones with jam and clotted cream. There was also a large variety of hot drinks from different teas to coffees and hot chocolate. You could have as many hot drinks as you like. We were full afterwards. Well worth the money. The whole experience was fantastic. Well done Bbar. Our bill was over the price per head because we had 4 cocktails!

Visited here recently and we had a good experience having a nice evening meal. We had a 3 course meal from the pre theatre menu and had ordered the below. 2 People Starters: Cesar Salad, BBQ chicken salad Mains: Vegan burger with chips, traditional fish & chips Desert: Baked vanilla cheese cake, chocolate brownie. The Cesar salad was very nice and so was the BBQ salad although they forgot to put the crispy bacon, which they did later bring after we informed them. The vegan burger wasn't great, perhaps it was me who didn't like it, as options were limited in the menu. My wife certainly enjoyed the fish and chips though. Deserts were nice although we found the cheese cake a little on the tasteless side. Chocolate brownie was nice and could have been nice if it was little more warmer. Overall it's a very nice place and I'm sure the other menus offer a lot more choices. Drinks menu was very good and lots of cocktails, beers, spirits on the menu.

We went yesterday for a team fish & chip afternoon tea for 10 people. The food and service was fantastic. A big thank you to our waiter. There was so much food and we had plenty to take away. We were there at 2.30 so the place was very quiet and did lack a bit of atmosphere but I’m when it busier it would be buzzy.
