About This Pub
Ah, Bathampton Mill, what a lovely little find if you're after that quintessential country pub experience without straying too far from Bath. I have to say, the setting is just brilliant – nestled by the river with gorgeous views of the rolling countryside, it's ideal for soaking up some fresh air on the outdoor seating or enjoying a quiet drink inside. The food really steals the show; from the flaky fish and chips to mouth-watering squid and prawns, and don't even get me started on those halloumi fries – they're fresh, tasty, and spot on for sharing. It's got that cosy, welcoming feel with comfortable seating and a menu that's got something for everyone, whether you're popping in for a quick lunch or a full three-course meal with mates. The staff are always up for a chat and super helpful, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few grumbles about things not being as spotless as they'd like, like tables left a bit grubby, which can put a damper on things right off the bat. And then there's the surprise of that 20% VAT tacked on, which might make you think twice about the value. All in all, it's a place I'd recommend for a great day out, especially if you're into good grub and scenic spots, but just keep those little niggles in mind to manage your expectations – it's got heaps of charm, but like any spot, it's not perfect.

Drove down for a special birthday meal. There is plenty of parking but remember to log your registration inside or pay a fee. Inside looks lovely and we sat in the bar area. First impressions as we took our table was how dirty it was. When the staff had cleared the glasses they hadn’t wiped down. As I looked around tables were full of glasses and remained there most of our stay. We ordered 2 steaks, took about 30 minutes, when the young man brought out the food he could carry one plate, the next meal took over 6 minutes. We pointed out we had no cutlery, off he went again. The kitchen must be a long walk. We asked for salt, vinegar and ketchup, again another wait. Still no ketchup, it never arrived. Never saw him again. No one came over to us to ask how are food was. When leaving 6 people stood in the bar area chatting, nobody made eye contact or thanked us for our custom. Felt very flat. Certainly would not go out of my way to return. Disappointed ☹️
My experience at the Mill was great, I had the fish and chips and opted for truffle fries as a substitute for the chips; these were to die for! The batter on the fish was great and the fish was so flakey. The pub had a really cozy atmosphere that really fitted in with the outside environment that the pub is set in. The service was the best part of my trip though. Our waitress, Sophie, was so polite and was very helpful when we were trying to pick out what to eat on the menu!
Would highly recommend a visit!
Ice cold pints, absolutely delicious food ,the squid and prawns are a must have 😋, my lovely server farida was very helpful & very chatty. Kudos to the team. Will definitely be back
The mushroom risotto, the sticky chicken, and the prawn chorizo crab scallop were absolutely delightful. They were seasoned perfectly and the scallop was literally melt in your mouth.
The Halloumi fries were hands down the best I've ever eaten in my entire life, so fresh and tasty. Absolutely would recommend 10/10.
Special shoutout to our server Farida and the chef Murat who we heard was new to making the main courses (you could not tell that at all with the quality of the food).
I would of written a review regardless but a free meal is an incentive! My ticket number is 35
Great pub, and the food was delicious. Set against the river, there is a large car park and outside seating for alfresco eating. It was dark when I visited, so I didn't get a feel for the whole outside area. The prices were reasonable, surprised to see 20% vat on the bill. However well worth a visit.
