About This Pub
So, I was having a chat with mates about the Bank of Friendship the other day, and it's got this real old-school appeal that's just spot on for a relaxed evening out. They've nailed the drinks side with a brilliant range of ales and craft beers that keep you coming back, and that big garden is an absolute winner when the sun's out – imagine sipping a pint surrounded by greenery. The interior's cosy too, with open fires for the colder months and even the chance to catch some live sports, plus you can get some smashing pizzas delivered right in. On the downside, though, they've got these firm policies like no dogs and strictly over 21s, which might not suit everyone, and without the option to book ahead, you could find yourself waiting around. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good laugh and a drink, but it's worth keeping those quirks in mind to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of quality ales and craft beers that really hit the spot, making it a treat for any beer enthusiast.
-
A spacious garden that's perfect for enjoying the summer evenings, with plenty of space to relax and chat.
-
Warm and welcoming traditional interior, complete with open fires in winter to cosy up by and a lively atmosphere.
-
Friendly service that adds to the homely feel, and the option to order in tasty pizzas like Yard Sale ones for a proper pub grub fix.
-
Great setup for watching major sporting events on HD screens, ideal if you're up for cheering on the team with a pint in hand.
Cons
-
Strict rules like no dogs allowed and over-21s only, which can make it less accessible for families or groups with pets.
-
No reservations policy means you might have to queue or miss out on a table during busy times, which can be a bit frustrating.
-
Some experiences with staff being a tad inflexible, potentially dampening the vibe if things don't go smoothly.

The pub has a nice interior, but the overly strict rules and inflexible staff make it hard to enjoy. No dogs allowed and a rigid approach to drinking take away from the atmosphere. Better options are available elsewhere.
arguably one of the best and liveliest pubs in London, serving great Guinness with a huge pub garden. You can also order in Yard Sale Pizzas which are very very nice. A regular haunt for me
Lively traditional pub with two bars and a large beer garden. A good selection of beers.
Such a great name for a pub! My first visit which is surprising. The interior feels old world with carpet and traditional pub tables. They had an excellent cask ale on from Burton Bridge brewery at my time of visit. The price was reasonable . There is also a large outdoor area which is a bonus . Staff were friendly and there was a nice atmosphere inside . Definitely the best pub in the area.
🚇 Arsenal
The Bank of Friendship is located at the bottom of Blackstock Road, close to Arsenal’s old iconic stadium in Highbury North London. The nearest Tube is Arsenal.
This pub was originally built at the tail-end of the 19th century, then rebuilt for Courage in the 1930’s.
This is a traditional decorated two bar pub which has an oldschool charm about it. The bar on the right is long and narrow with the servery located on the left and an elongated buttoned banquette to the right. There is a nice period fireplace and proper red pub carpet. The bar on the left is an almost mirror image of the other bar. The servery is centrally located, it has an original Courage back bar with a backlit sign, a rare find. One standout feature of this pub is the Liam Brady signed football kit, Liam Brady was a childhood hero of mine. At the back of the pub is a fantastic beergarden with lots of benches and huts.
The beer line up was excellent and offers a broad range of big name beers, local London brews and three cask ales. I decided on a Pillars Pilsner, my pint was great, price point was a tad above average at £6.20. The food option is @yardsalepizza who deliver your order to the pub.
I arrived at 3pm on a warm Monday afternoon in October. I was the first in the door and had a good mooch around the pub. The service was lovely, I was served by a friendly member of the team who was welcoming and courteous. I decided to plot up in the beer garden and reminisced about times spent here over the years. Back in the day my Dad took me here on the way to see The Arsenal, I have followed this tradition and visited many times with my Son.
I must admit, I do have a soft spot for the @bof_n5 , not only is it an outstanding local pub, there are family ties stretching back to the 1970’s. This pub regularly appears in @timeoutlondon Top 50 London pubs, and rightly so. This Independent pub is a must visit.
