About This Pub

Ah, the Brook Gate – it's one of those unpretentious London pubs that just draws you in with its warm, down-to-earth charm. From what I've gathered from chats with regulars, it's an absolute gem for catching all the live action on the telly, from football matches to rugby and even the odd horse race, which really gets the crowd buzzing. The drinks deals are spot on too; you can snag a couple of pints for a tenner, making it ideal for a budget-friendly evening without skimping on quality. Plus, the staff are dead friendly, and there's a fun side with things like karaoke nights that can turn an ordinary visit into something memorable. On the other hand, it does tend to fill up quickly, especially when there's a big game on, so you might find yourself elbow-to-elbow at the bar. It's not the fanciest spot – more of a classic boozer with a straightforward setup – and if you're hoping for a hearty meal, you'll probably have to look elsewhere. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after good value, a laugh with mates, and that authentic pub experience, but it's worth keeping in mind it might not suit everyone for a quiet, upscale night.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere for watching live sports, whether it's football, rugby, or the horses – perfect for getting stuck into the action with your mates.
  • Drinks are incredibly affordable, like grabbing two pints for just a tenner, which makes it a wallet-friendly spot for a night out.
  • The staff are lovely and welcoming, creating that real community feel that makes you want to come back.
  • Fun events like karaoke add a bit of excitement and help break the ice on quieter evenings.
  • Loads of Arsenal memorabilia dotted around, which is a treat for any fans of the Gunners.
Cons
  • It can get absolutely packed on match days, making it a bit of a squeeze to get to the bar or find a seat.
  • The place has a no-frills, straightforward vibe that might feel a tad basic if you're after something a bit more polished.
  • Not much on offer in terms of food, so you might end up needing to pop out for a proper meal elsewhere.

Previously the Arsenal Tavern, the pub still has Arsenal memorabilia inside. I met up with a few mates when there was karaoke going on. My mates got me to have a go! I'm not too bad at singing and the locals seemed to appreciate my efforts!

Great on a match day, packed but somehow I always get served pretty quickly unlike other pubs. Good Guinness and nice atmosphere.

There are poncy pubs up the vale. Don't go there. This is a real pub with real people. Two pints for a tenner, warm in the winter, sport if you like that sort of thing and decent tunes the rest of the time.

Best pub in the area by far. Lovely staff, good selection of beers and fair pricing. What's not to love.

There’s something about this pub I just absolutely love. I remember as a kid my dad taking me there on match day (when it was still the Tavern and was rough as a dog’s…), but now I’m of age and moved to Finsbury Park, I’ve become a regular punter here, and it’s got so much better. Incredibly cheap drinks, 2 pool tables, dartboard setup, screens galore, always have the racing on, the best music on a Friday (thank you Daniel son!)… I literally cannot complain. I celebrated my 19th birthday there, and this December gone I had my 20th with a group of friends. I have accidentally started a tradition… and it will definitely stick - I’m so glad I’ve introduced many friends to this place and now they go all the time with their circles etc… Can’t fault this pub at all.
