About This Pub

You know, when I think about the Astley Arms, it really stands out as one of those reliable local spots that just gets it right most of the time. The staff are an absolute delight – always friendly and attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly, whether you're there for a quick pint or a full meal. I have to say, the food is a highlight; their pub classics and that Sunday roast are proper comforting, and it's clear they're putting in the effort with fresh, hot dishes that leave you satisfied. It's got this warm, lively feel that's perfect for chatting with mates or bringing the family along, and little perks like the beer garden and being dog-friendly make it even more appealing for a casual day out. On the flip side, it does tend to get a bit crowded at peak times, so you might find yourself waiting around if you haven't booked ahead, and the menu's fairly straightforward pub grub, which won't wow anyone looking for something a tad more innovative. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in Dukinfield and fancy a place that's welcoming without the fuss – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for a relaxed evening.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant, always welcoming you with a warm smile and top-notch service that makes you feel right at home
  • The food is spot on, with delicious pub classics and an outstanding Sunday roast that's perfect for a proper weekend treat
  • It's got a lovely, inviting atmosphere that's lively yet cosy, making it a great spot for a catch-up with friends or family
  • Plenty of thoughtful touches like being dog-friendly, having a beer garden for sunny days, and free parking which adds to the convenience
  • Family-friendly vibe and accessibility features, such as wheelchair access, make it welcoming for everyone
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, especially on weekends or for events, which might mean a bit of a wait for food or a table if you pop in unannounced
  • The menu sticks to traditional pub fare, so if you're after something more adventurous or exotic, it might not quite hit the mark
  • With openings starting from midday, it's not the place for an early morning coffee or breakfast, which could be a downside for some

Paul and the team were fantastic at my nans wake yesterday. They listened to our wants and needs and delivered exactly what we wanted. The food was exceptional and plentiful. The curry was a big hit amongst the guests. All the staff were lovely and professional. Big thank you to Paul and his team :)

We were invited to this pub by some friends for a quiz night so decided to try out the food before they arrived. We were told that the pub was under new management. It is apparent from the moment you walk in that this place just oozes quality, the decor, furniture and the whole presentation is top class, everywhere is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly, they get everything right. I plumped for the salt and pepper squid starter and chicken curry pie and it was absolutely amazing! Lets be under no illusion here, this wasn't pub grub this was top restaurant quality food at pub prices. There is a massive selection on the menu to choose from and the bar is well stocked too with a wide selection of beers. Highly recommended it's just a pity we don't live closer

My family and I enjoyed a beautiful meal at The Top Astley Arms on Sunday. The Sunday dinner was top-notch and the kids all enjoyed their choices too. Desserts and coffees really hit the spot! Such friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. We’ll definitely be heading back soon! Thank you for a lovely Sunday afternoon!
