About This Pub
Ah, Tame Valley Hotel – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable spot for a bite and a bevvy with mates. From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this lovely homely vibe that makes you want to linger a bit longer, especially with the staff being so cheerful and attentive; they're always up for a chat or sorting out any little requests without a fuss. The food's a real highlight too – think big portions of proper grub like gammon or fish and chips that hit the spot, and at prices that won't dent your wallet, with those daily specials being an absolute bargain. It's no wonder so many are raving about it; places like this make for great afternoons or evenings out. But hey, it's not all roses – I've seen a mention or two about the odd disappointing dish, like a steak that was a tad dry, and that hygiene slip-up with the chef using hands instead of tools is a bit off-putting. Still, overall, it strikes a nice balance of being affordable and enjoyable, so if you're in the area and fancy a relaxed pint and meal, I'd say give it a go, just keep those expectations in check for a true local experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is generally spot on – think hearty portions and real chips that leave you feeling satisfied, with daily specials at a steal like £5.50.
-
It's got that warm, homely atmosphere that's just right for a casual catch-up, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
Staff are absolutely brilliant, always friendly and willing to go the extra mile, which really adds to the overall experience.
-
Prices are incredibly reasonable, offering better quality than some chain pubs but without breaking the bank – it's like getting Wetherspoons vibes but a notch up.
Cons
-
There have been a few grumbles about the food not always hitting the mark, like a dry steak that didn't quite live up to expectations.
-
Hygiene might be a concern for some, with one mention of the chef handling food by hand instead of using utensils, which isn't ideal.
-
It seems like the place could do with a bit more consistency, as not every visit is perfect based on what folks have shared.

Ok pub grub. The steak was dry and I seen the chef using his hands to put it on the plate, no utensils. But cheap food and drink so ok
Classic pub experience.
Staff friendly, seems to be a family run place. Did very nice, both better and good surprisingly good value. Wetherspoons prices but better quality.
It’s the go to place when I meet my dad for lunch or tea. Always great food, drinks choice and a nice atmosphere. Staff are great too. Nothing is too much trouble.
Visited again yesterday on the 4th March at lunchtime. I had the Gammon whilst my dad had Fish, Chips & Peas.
Great food, great service with a warm, friendly atmosphere. Can not fault the price and quality of the food and the fabulous daily special at £5.50 per meal. Large portions and real chips!!!
We tried the festive treats. Wow! Lush. Loaded Tatter Tots! Could have eaten them twice - so good. Great service. Lovely homely atmosphere. Staff are great. Will return for more loveliness. Really good prices too.
