About This Pub
Ah, 14 Bar & Grill, what a gem it could be up there on the 14th floor of Daniel House! I've got to say, chatting about this place feels like sharing notes with mates over a pint. The views are just magic – sweeping across Liverpool and the Mersey, it's one of those spots that makes you pause and appreciate the city. The food's another highlight; those homemade dishes and small plates are often spot on, with moist chicken and nice gravy getting nods from folks who've been. It's brilliant for celebrations, like birthdays or proposals, where the staff have stepped up and made things memorable with special touches. But, and there's always a but, isn't there? Service can be a right faff sometimes – tales of wrong mains, disorganised meals, and even staff being a bit disrespectful have cropped up, which is a shame because it knocks the shine off an otherwise lovely evening. Plus, if you're after a quick drink without food, you're out of luck as they don't do bookings for that. Overall, it's got that exciting rooftop buzz, especially on a clear day out on the terrace, but I'd suggest going in with an open mind and maybe checking for any updates first. It's got potential to be a top haunt, but those service slip-ups mean it's not perfect every time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The views from the 14th floor are absolutely stunning, offering panoramic sights across Liverpool and the Mersey – it's a real treat for anyone visiting.
-
The food is generally tasty and well-prepared, with homemade dishes and contemporary small plates that hit the spot, especially for special occasions like birthdays.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for celebrations, with beautiful decor and a welcoming vibe that makes it feel special, plus the staff can be incredibly helpful when they're on form.
-
It's got a great outdoor terrace for when the weather's nice, adding to that rooftop charm and making it a fun spot for groups.
Cons
-
Service can be hit or miss, with some reports of unprofessional behaviour, like wrong orders or staff smoking in areas they shouldn't, which puts a dampener on things.
-
There have been issues with disorganisation, such as meals not arriving as expected or portions feeling a bit skimpy, which might leave you disappointed.
-
Communication isn't always top-notch, with a few mentions of no warnings about changes or problems, making for a frustrating experience now and then.
-
It's not ideal for just popping in for drinks, as they don't accommodate drinks-only bookings, which limits the flexibility for a casual night out.

Recent Reviews
Avoid - Poor customer service & restaurant experiences.
Unprofessional, disorganised & disrespectful.
1st visit - Three wrong mains given at a 70th celebration as well as wrongly cooked steaks.
Staff were smoking on the viewing platform.
2nd visit - No warning/ communication that restaurant was shut on our Valentine's Day booking.
First Valentine's with partner so l booked well in advance, spent a fortune on taxis and took time off work to be there on time; just for us to arrive and it to be shut.
Had received a confirmation text 2 days prior but on arrival found out it was shut and the restaurant hadn't had the decency to inform us it would be closed. Ridiculous...how do they expect anyone to get a booking at another restaurant for Valentine's Day at dinner time!?
Unfortunately there were other couples arriving in the same predicament.
Contacted them numerous times on numerous platforms and have not been contacted back.
Absolutely awful way to treat customers and multiple bad experiences.
Edit:
Updated to further my disappointment with their bad customer service.
They had left me on read for a while, and only after I was persistent did they eventually respond.. 3 months after.
Unfortunately they didn’t acknowledge their faults and instead complained about my review. They then pursued to argue with me suggesting I should have known they were closed because “it was in the newspapers” and “they said on Instagram” - how ridiculous is that! How unprofessional is it to assume people are just going to find out you’re closed, instead they should have just contacted their bookings to tell them it needs to be cancelled.
Not once have I received an apology. My original review holds very much true and their customer service is absolutely dire.
They had the time to try and argue with me on social media but not reconcile or apologise for their mistakes.
They had a fire in the kitchen after I booked but multiple weeks before my booking. I would be more understanding if the fire had happened a few days prior to my booking but my booking was weeks after the fire so they had ample time to inform me and others.
Hugely disappointing and frustrating overall experiences
This place is decorated absolutely beautifully
If you can get over the original setting of it being at the top of a random block of flats then you will be in for a treat.
The view is astounding looking right across the Mersey and the food was very tasty.
I took my family here last night 23-12-24
for my gf’s birthday and it was just amazing, the staff are second to none, I’d arranged for our cake to be brought out and happy birthday was sang by all, I also proposed (she said yes😜) and the staff couldnt of been more helpful playing a special song when she said yes, just loved it.
The food was boss, couldn’t fault the place, the decor was incredibly Christmassy which made our night even more special ❤️
I’d just like to wish all the staff a very Merry Christmas & a happy new year from my family 👌🏼🎅🏻🎄 xxx
First visit to 14 Bar & Grill
For me.. chicken roast
For her.. beef roast.
I did complain about the size of my meal due to the fact an instagramer was on the next table taking photos of his chicken roast that looked nothing like mine..
The food was okay..
Gravy was nice..
Chicken was moist..
Decorations are fantastic, view is amazing.
Parking is not free, no concession for disabled users, the restaurant used to sign you in, if you're using the restaurant, but no longer do this.
Cost £51.
Visited here for a family birthday celebration as part of a group of 13 people. The place is just amazing inside, with fantastic views and a great outdoor area for when the weather is nice. The food, atmosphere, staff were all exceptional too. Food all served at same time, which is not as easy as you'd think for a large group. The staff were charming, happy and couldn't do enough to make our night memorable for all the right reasons. All in all, it was a brilliant night and I would highly recommend and will definitely be going back for our next special occasion.
