About This Pub

Ah, Ye Olde White Horse – what a gem of a pub in Spalding! From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this timeless appeal that really draws you in, like popping into a piece of local history for a relaxed evening. The beer stands out as a real highlight; folks rave about the Samuel Smiths options, describing them as clean, refreshing masterpieces that make the trip worthwhile, even if you're driving out from the wilds of Lincolnshire. And let's not forget the prices – they're spot on for keeping things affordable while still offering decent food that's cooked fresh, not just zapped in a microwave. It's ideal for those laid-back chats with friends, where you can actually hear each other without any noisy distractions. On the downside, it does seem to get quiet, especially on weeknights, so if you're hoping for a bit more energy, you might find it a touch subdued. Still, with most reviews singing its praises and an overall solid rating, it's clear this place has a lot going for it. If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go – it's one of those pubs that feels like a warm welcome from an old mate.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got that wonderful historic charm that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time, just like in those old tales of English pubs.
  • The beer selection is spot on, with great options like Samuel Smiths brews that are refreshing and full of character.
  • Prices are absolutely brilliant – it's an inexpensive spot where you can enjoy a pint or a meal without worrying about the bill.
  • The atmosphere is just right for a good chat; it's nice and quiet, without any blaring music or distractions, perfect for catching up with mates.
  • The food comes freshly cooked and is pretty decent, adding a nice touch to your visit without it feeling like an afterthought.
Cons
  • It can be a bit on the quiet side at times, which might not hit the spot if you're after a more lively, buzzing vibe.
  • There's no clear info on operating hours, so you might end up turning up when it's not open, which is a bit of a nuisance.
  • As an unclaimed business, it doesn't seem to have much of an online presence, making it trickier to get the latest updates or details.

Such a wonderful and historic place. Had some thin air pie with a slide around the plate. All the while I could hear voices whispering "If you reopen....they will come".

Hello everyone, I’d like to share something from my heart. I met a guy named James Buttner who works nearby. From the very beginning, I really liked him, and over time, I developed genuine feelings for him. I live in Georgia, so staying in touch wasn’t easy. We used to chat on Telegram, but one day he suddenly disappeared and I haven’t heard from him since. If anyone knows James or can help me reach out to him, please — I’d be so grateful. All I want is a chance to reconnect. James, if you’re reading this — please get in touch. My name is Niniko. Thank you all for your kindness and for helping love find its way

Nice. Pleasant friendly place for a drink. We were there on a quiet Wed evening, around 7. We enjoyed the quiet but for the sake of the pub, it needed to be a lot busier. Good IPA. Feels like a real old part of Spalding's history.

Friendly place. Decent beer and brilliant prices. No noisy music or TV's ideal place to chat with friends so you can hear yourselves without breaking the bank. Food's pretty good too. Cooked to order and not microwaved.

Absolutely love this pub. I've only recently become obsessed with Samuel Smiths and their range of (relatively) local brewed alcoholic masterpieces. We often drive out through the wilds of Lincolnshire just to visit the White Horse. The organic lager is so clean and refreshing it's almost as good as a German beer. The bottled fruit beers are just perfect on a summer's day, again organic. Nice sunny garden out the back and friendly staff and locals. Always a joy!
