About This Pub

Ah, The Punchbowl – it's one of those classic community pubs in Spalding that you can't help but appreciate for its down-to-earth charm. I've got to say, the vibe is spot on; it's all about relaxing with a refreshing pint and enjoying the company, whether you're there for live sports on the telly or a fun karaoke night. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and serving up drinks at prices that feel like a proper bargain – it's no wonder folks rave about how affordable it is. Plus, being dog-friendly and generally well-kept makes it even more appealing for a laid-back evening. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; there have been a few reports of the bar area not smelling quite right, which is a shame and could do with sorting out. And if you're ordering specific drinks, you might run into the odd mix-up, or find that events drag on with too much filler between the action. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a good time with friends – just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is really welcoming and community-focused, perfect for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • They've got unbeatable drink offers and prices that won't break the bank, making it a great spot for a casual night out.
  • Friendly staff who provide excellent service – it's clear they know how to make everyone feel at home.
  • Loads of entertainment options like live sports, karaoke, and even pool, which add to the fun vibe.
  • It's dog-friendly and kept nice and clean, so you can pop in with your furry friend without any worries.
Cons
  • There have been some hygiene slip-ups, like the bar area smelling off, which can put a damper on things.
  • Occasional mix-ups with drink orders, which might leave you frustrated if you're after something specific.
  • Events like karaoke can get a bit unbalanced with too much DJing in between, cutting into the singing time.

Friendly enough but bar area stank of urine? Only had a drink and definitely wouldn't eat there.

Had a great night at the Karaoke night. Great atmosphere and very welcoming. Good sound from Karaoke, only gripe was that there was too much DJ ing in between the singing, so only got two sings each

I ordered a double Kraken, got served a double JD, so not wanting to make a fuss, I left it and ordered another one, had a couple more with no issues, then I ordered the same again but got given something else which wasn't Kraken, this time I made a mistake of letting them know that it wasn't Kraken, to which the bar staff became aggressive, snatched the drink off me and called the doorman. (I have a sneaky feeling that they are tampering with the bottles of spirits) I was shocked, but left without any fuss at all. Needless to say I will never go back there again
