About This Pub
You know, when I think about Ye Olde Vic, it's got that proper old-school pub magic that's hard to beat – the kind of spot where you can sink into a comfy corner with a top-notch pint of real ale. From what I've seen, folks rave about the beer selection; it's got six hand pulls with brews from across the UK, and being in the Good Beer Guide for over two decades says it all. The atmosphere is spot on too, with a real community feel that makes it feel welcoming and nostalgic, like stepping back in time for a chat with mates. The staff are an absolute highlight – friendly as can be, always up for a laugh or a quick word, which really lifts the place. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; the pub's a bit worn down in places and can be smelly, which might put some off, and the beer garden is just as disappointing, so it's not the best for a sunny day out. Still, with a solid 4.6 rating from heaps of reviews, it's clear most people overlook the flaws for the good stuff. If you're in Stockport and after a quality pint in a genuine local haunt, I'd say give it a go – just manage your expectations and maybe stick to indoors!

The staff are dead friendly and welcoming, like the landlord and the team behind the bar; they really add to the charm.

The place can feel a bit rundown and smelly in spots, which takes away from the overall experience.

The beer garden isn't up to much – it's just as neglected as the rest, so not ideal for outdoor drinks.

A great local pub to enjoy a pint before a county match, and there are plenty of beers on offer to please all tastes. The atmosphere was great as there is a lovely nostalgic feel about the place.
Excellent pub/bar great atmosphere and good choice of beers.
Landlord was really nice, as was his wife and girls behind the bar, whenever I'm back up that way I'll definitely pop in again (Charlton fan)
This is what I would describe as proper old school pub. It was very busy but the service was efficient, quick and done with a smile. Lovely ales all in top condition. I liked the traditional feel of the pub with a real community atmosphere inside. Would highly recommend a visit if your in the area, we will definitely be returning next time we play Stockport County.
Traditional real ale pub serving the local community. Friendly and welcoming. Very cosy. Serving several well kept ales. Open from 5. Recommended for a nice pint.
As I understand it, the pub is now under new management after having had a funny reputation with the old landlord — anyway, the place is very rundown, and quite smelly. Also the beer garden is just as bad. Hard to recommend the place to be honest… and whilst it’s better than it not being available at all, the Guinness was in a can. So again, nothing to recommend… unless you like pubs that look derelict
