About This Pub

Ah, Yates on Market Street in Blackpool – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to get the crowd going, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's a welcoming spot right in the town centre, perfect for popping in for a bite during the day or ramping up for a lively evening with DJs spinning tunes until the wee hours. The staff seem to be the real stars here; folks mention how they're polite and helpful, like that server Aimee who recommended a new drink or the manager Toby who made visitors feel looked after. The food's generally a winner with tasty meals at fair prices, especially those daily specials, but let's be honest, it's not flawless – one person had a rough time with undercooked dishes and wouldn't recommend it for eats. Still, it's ace for sports fans with plenty of screens showing everything from football to Formula 1, and the cocktail deals are a treat if you're in the mood for something a bit fancy. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good time, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe stick to the drinks if you're unsure about the kitchen. I'd say it's worth a visit for that classic pub experience, just keep an eye on the crowd if you're after something more low-key.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food hits the spot with options like mixed grills that customers rave about, and it's all reasonably priced with daily specials.
  • It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports with loads of screens and a projector, plus they have great deals on cocktails.
  • The atmosphere is lively, especially in the evenings with DJs and live music, and it's in the heart of Blackpool town centre for easy access.
  • They've got thoughtful touches like being dog-friendly, having a beer garden, and being accessible with features for everyone.
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss, with some folks having to send dishes back because they weren't cooked properly.
  • It might get a bit too hectic on busy nights, which could make it feel overwhelming if you're after a quiet pint.
  • While the drinks are affordable, the overall vibe leans more towards high-energy fun, so it might not suit those wanting a relaxed chat.

Came in yesterday (Friday) with my partner for food and drinks. Very warm welcoming by staff. Was served by Aimee who was very friendly and polite. Aimee mentioned that a new strawberry strongbow was now on tap and my parter ordered this and loved it. We ordered mixed grills, the food was lovely and the steaks were cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back again soon

Took a trip to Blackpool yesterday evening not really knowing where is good to go but we ended up at Yates and we are glad we did. Manager on shift was Toby. All places of hospitality needs a Toby. He was so helpful, lovely and just all round nice guy. The place was beautiful inside and you could see that great pride is taken when being at work for the guys working there. We will definitely be back soon.

Food was not good at all. Had to send back most of the food for not cooking it properly. Staff were very good. Asked if we would like something else in return. Shame because it is a nice enough place. Wouldn't recommend food. Drinks. Yes.

This is a large Yates which is very clean and comfortable. I ate twice and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Specials each day starting at £7.99 incl a drink. Staff were very friendly and I would recommend this place to anyone.

We visited on a Friday afternoon and had a great time. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming. We took advantage of the cocktail deals which I think were two for one. Anyway when we visited the drink prices were very reasonable. The bar has two levels with the top level having excellent views of the sea, the north pier and the promenade. They have a kitchen which supplies all the pub classics like burgers and fish and chips. The price looked reasonable but I haven't tried the food.
