About This Pub
Ah, Word Of Mouth Leith, what a delightful find in the heart of Edinburgh! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just warms you up from the get-go with its high-quality grub – the croques and eggs Florentine are absolute belters, and they've got some solid veggie choices that make it easy for everyone to join in. The staff are an absolute joy, always efficient and chatty, which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere, especially when you're queuing up. And don't even get me started on the drinks; that oat latte and hot chocolate are spot on, with coffee that's freshly roasted right there – it's like a hug in a cup. On the flip side, it's more of a daytime affair, shutting at 4 PM, so if you're hoping for a proper evening session, you might be out of luck. Plus, while most rave about it, one chap thought the Scottish breakfast wasn't the top drawer, though he still enjoyed it. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual lunch or coffee catch-up, but keep in mind it might not be your go-to for a full pub crawl. Give it a try if you're in the area – you won't be disappointed!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely top-notch – think delicious croques, perfectly cooked eggs Florentine, and some cracking veggie options that make it a winner for all tastes.
-
Staff are so friendly and efficient; they really make you feel right at home, even when things get busy.
-
Drinks are a highlight, with the oat latte, hot chocolate orange, and freshly roasted coffee that's spot on – it's like a little treat with every sip.
-
It's got a lovely vibe, perfect for a relaxed catch-up over lunch, and they serve it all day, which is handy if you're after something later in the afternoon.
-
Everything feels fresh and high-quality, with that personal touch from the owner, making it feel like a proper local gem.
Cons
-
The hours are a bit on the early side, closing up at 4 PM, so it's not the place for a late-night pint or evening wind-down.
-
One or two folks mentioned the Scottish breakfast isn't quite the best they've had, though it's still pretty good overall.
-
Without a website, it's tricky to check out the menu or details in advance, which might put you off if you're planning ahead.
-
It leans more towards a daytime cafe feel rather than a full-on pub atmosphere, so if you're after lively evenings, it might not hit the mark.

Really lovely place, friendly staff and high quality food. Oat latte was delicious, really recommend the croques - good veggie options! Lunch served all day!
Cute little spot, food was exquisite. The Eggs Florentine was delightful, eggs cooked to perfection and exceded my expectations. The Croque monsieur was good also.
Great place and faster than what expected for being third on the queue and only 2 workers. Very efficient and everything tasty. Loved the hot chocolate orange!
I would not say it is the best Scottish breakfast I ever had but it was still really good.
Though my friend had an amazing Croque Monsieur.
The service and vibe were great.
Best coffee so far I found here in Edinburgh - coffee is directly roasted on the spot, and you can have a coffee-talk with the owner himself :)
Cappuccino is done in perfection 🫶rarely to find!
Espresso notes: sweet & fruity aroma, light & elegant, nice smooth consistency, light roast aromatics & low bitterness, great balance.
Simply great coffee.
