About This Pub

Ah, Robbies on Leith Walk – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a cosy corner of Edinburgh, you know? From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that classic, traditional vibe, surrounded by interesting old brewery mirrors and a warm, unpretentious atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding after a long day. The beers are a real highlight; they've got a solid lineup of Scottish brews and a pint of Guinness that's so smooth, it'll transport you straight to the Emerald Isle. Sports lovers will appreciate the big screens for live games, and if you're lucky, you might catch some live music on the weekends, which really livens things up without making it too rowdy. Plus, it's easy on the pocket, so you can pop in for a quick one or stay for a few without breaking the bank. On the downside, they don't do food at all, so if you're peckish, you'll have to venture out for a bite – it's a bit of a shame, but hey, that's pub life for you. And that funny comment about the marshmallows in the loos? Not sure what's going on there, but it adds a touch of eccentricity! All in all, if you're after a genuine, laid-back spot to meet up with mates, Robbies delivers the goods, making it a solid choice for anyone exploring Edinburgh's pub scene.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully traditional and welcoming, making it feel like a proper local haunt where everyone is made to feel at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, especially those from Scottish breweries, and the Guinness is often praised as one of the best outside Ireland.
  • It's a great spot for sports fans with large screens showing live matches, and they host live music on some weekends for added entertainment.
  • Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a pint or two without worrying about the cost.
  • The staff and fellow visitors are incredibly friendly, and there's a fun quiz night on Tuesdays that adds to the community vibe.
Cons
  • They don't serve any food, which means you'll need to head elsewhere if you're after a meal with your drinks.
  • There's that quirky mention of something unusual in the gents' – like overly crunchy marshmallows, which might just be a odd joke but could put some off.

Great pub to stop in for a pint. Marshmallows in the men’s room were a bit too crunchy.

Fantastic, friendly, traditional bar with a laid back, unpretentious atmosphere. One of the best pints in Leith. Tuesday's quiz with Tony is really enjoyable.

Nice little bar on Leith Walk. Gives 'proper boozer' vibes (not that this is a bad thing) but once inside you're greeted with smiles behind the bar and a good beer.

They don’t serve food, but the bar is really nice. So are all the people there. The customers are friendly and bartenders are really nice.

I popped in here on a visit to Edinburgh with my wife, just a really authentic relaxed pub. Beautiful pint of Guinness, one of the best I've had outside of Ireland. Sound staff too!
