About This Pub

Ah, the Willow Tree Inn – it's one of those places that just warms your cockles from the moment you step in. From what I've gathered chatting about it with mates, the staff are an absolute gem, always on hand with a smile and that extra bit of help that makes you feel looked after. The food? Well, it's a real highlight – we're talking piping hot dishes like the steak and Stilton pie that's got people raving, or fish and chips that's served up promptly with all the trimmings. It's clean as a whistle too, with a bright and homely feel that makes it ideal for a catch-up over a meal. On the flip side, it does have a bit of a restaurant vibe rather than a down-to-earth pub, which might not suit if you're after somewhere for a quiet pint without the dining focus. And let's be honest, the prices can sneak up on you, like splashing out £13.50 for lunch and a half, so it's worth planning ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for pub goers seeking good grub and a friendly chat, but keep expectations balanced for that classic pub charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home with their friendly and helpful service.
  • The food is spot on – think amazing steak and Stilton pie or hearty fish and chips that hit the spot every time.
  • It's a clean and welcoming spot, with a bright, homely atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxed evening out.
  • There's a cracking variety on the menu, offering plenty of options to suit different tastes and leaving you spoilt for choice.
  • Portions are generous, so you won't leave feeling peckish, and the overall vibe is more like a cosy restaurant-pub hybrid that's inviting for all.
Cons
  • It can feel more like a restaurant than a traditional pub, which might disappoint if you're after a classic boozer atmosphere.
  • Prices might add up a bit, like with a fish and chips and half a pint coming to £13.50, so it pays to keep an eye on the bill.
  • One or two visits mentioned it being just alright rather than outstanding, suggesting it might not wow everyone every time.

Lovely staff, lovely place, more restraunt than pub on the Saturday evening we went. The steak and Stilton pie was amazing and all the food piping hot.

I had Fish & Chips from the lunch saver menu and 1/2 a pint of Guinness (£13.50p). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room felt quite homely and bright. My lunch arrived promptly and I was asked what condiments I'd like with my lunch. The fish & chips were served with mushy peas & salad. The food was nicely cooked and tasty. The only negative I found was the lack of fish inside the batter. I'd have given this review a 4 star rating but for this.

Amazing food, we were in the area after having a 4d scan across the road and thought we would have give willow tree a go due to the good reviews. Food is phenomenal! Spoke to Mandy the chef who has worked there 17 years, I can see why! All staff were friendly and me and my family were made to feel part of the crowd despite going out late with a toddler in tow. Not many people are so accepting of a 21 month old in a pub during evening time but it wasn't an issue for anyone in this pub. Can't wait to come back again soon :)

An exceptionally clean and inviting tavern with a sizable menu with many different options. The duck wonton appetizers were crispy and served with a sauce that was slightly sweet with just a hint of coriander. The main portions were more than enough for a hungry adult (and then some). The sausages were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside - exactly how they should be. And the staff were extremely friendly. They made us feel not like tourists, but instead like we were part of the local crowd. A definite repeat when we're back in the area.

I visited this place on recommendation from friends. I was told that the food was really nice. When entering the pub I was pleasantly surprised. It was very welcoming and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was shocked at the amount menu choice, awesome variety and excellent quality for money. I had the steak with Diane sauce, my partner had the mutton lamb and dumplings. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we are going to go back in the not so distant future. I would definitely recommend this pub.
