About This Pub

Ah, The Fox & Crown – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a second home, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which really adds to that cosy, community vibe. The beers are a highlight; they're brewing their own right on site, so you've got these fantastic cask ales that taste fresh and full of character, and at such affordable prices too – don't miss the happy hour or that CAMRA discount if you're into your pints. Events like the pub quiz or live music nights sound like a blast, and the beer garden's a brilliant spot for soaking up the sun in summer. On the flip side, it's a pity the Thai kitchen's shut its doors, as it used to offer some cracking food options, and it's a bit frustrating when they run out of favourites like jalapeño poppers. Plus, with closing times not too late, it might not suit if you're after a proper all-nighter. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the niggles, and you'll likely leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant and make you feel right at home with their friendly, welcoming vibe.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint or joining in on the fun events like quizzes, poker, and live music.
  • The beer selection is top-notch, straight from their own microbrewery, with traditional cask ales that are always spot on.
  • Prices are really reasonable, especially with perks like the CAMRA discount and happy hour deals on draft pints.
  • They're super dog-friendly, which is great if you're popping in with your furry mate.
  • The beer garden is a lovely spot for summer evenings, all newly refurbished and peaceful.
Cons
  • The Thai kitchen has closed down, so you won't get those tasty Thai dishes anymore, which is a bit of a shame.
  • They sometimes run out of popular items like jalapeño poppers, which can be disappointing if you're craving them.
  • Opening hours are a tad limited in the evenings, wrapping up around 10 or 11 pm on most days, so it's not ideal for late-night gatherings.

This is an excellent pub, just like they used to be, with no frills. Beer was superb, staff friendly too. A short walk from Basford Tram Stop. Sells the Shipstones Beer Range at very reasonable prices.
