About This Pub

Ah, The Plough – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Nottingham, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic selection of beers straight from their own brewery, all fresh and full of flavour, which is a real treat if you're into your real ales. The staff sound like absolute stars, always making you feel right at home, and the food's a winner too, with folks raving about the steak and those homemade cobs. It's got that timeless traditional charm that takes you back to the good old days, which is brilliant for a relaxed evening. On the flip side, a few people mentioned the decorations are a bit shabby with that dull grey paint, which does dampen the mood a little – it's not a deal-breaker, but it could use some freshening up to match the rest. All in all, if you're after a solid, affordable spot for a pint and some good company, I'd say give it a go; it's got that hearty pub spirit, even with a few rough edges.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on – fresh brews from their own Nottingham Brewery, with a fantastic range of real ales that taste just brilliant.
  • The staff are so welcoming and friendly; it's like popping in to see old mates, making every visit feel warm and inviting.
  • It's a proper traditional pub with that classic, unchanged vibe, perfect for a nostalgic pint and a chat.
  • The food hits the mark too, with delicious options like a perfectly cooked steak or tasty pub snacks that go down a treat.
  • Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a great night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • The decorations and paint job are a bit lacklustre – that grey paint really lets down the atmosphere in places.
  • It might feel a tad outdated for those after something more modern or polished.

Good traditional pub with extremely good beer. The atmosphere was spoiled slightly due to poor grey paint bad decorations. But still recommended.

Classic pub almost unchanged since I used to visit with my Dad back in the late ‘70s. Now the brewery tap for the adjoining Nottingham Brewery and has a great range of their beers always in top condition. Friendly locals, great staff and decent pub snacks too. A reminder of what St Peter’s Street was like before it became student land. Anyone serious about beer and an authentic pub atmosphere needs to make the effort to visit. Highly recommended.

Great pub with super friendly staff. All beers are from nottingham brewery on site so are fresh and tasting great. EPA was tasting fantastic when I last visited. Great selection of more trad styles like bitter and milds. Wonderful cob selection made to order and various food provided during quiz night.
