About This Pub

Ah, the White Hart – it's one of those hidden gems in Liverpool that just feels like a proper old-school pub. Tucked away in the historic Georgian quarter, near the cathedral, it's got this labyrinth of nooks and crannies that make you feel like you're stepping into a Dickens novel, especially with the roaring fires on chilly evenings. The cask ales are spot on, always well-kept and paired with a relaxed vibe and some cracking tunes in the background. I love the beer garden too; it's brilliant for soaking up the sun with a pint, and the staff are dead helpful, making sure everything runs smoothly. On the flip side, the food's mainly those rotating Satterthwaites pies, which are gorgeous but not exactly a wide choice if you're peckish for more. Oh, and without a phone number handy, it might be a faff if you want to check opening times or book something. All in all, it's a top pick for a laid-back night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as it's got that authentic pub charm without the pretence.

  • It's got a chilled vibe with great tunes and spaces for watching sports, plus tasty pies on the menu that hit the spot for a quick bite.
Cons
  • The food options are a bit limited, mostly rotating pies and snacks, so it might not satisfy if you're after a full meal.
  • No phone number listed on their details, which could make it tricky if you need to get in touch quickly.
  • All the reviews we've got are positive, but with no recent ones in the last few months, things might have changed a tad.

Such a lovely, traditional pub with good service and a great selection of cask beers. The interior is traditional and had a roaring fire on during our visit last night, which was so welcoming. The pub has a chilled vibe and there is a range of people from all walks of life. The beer is well kept and the range is excellent.

Yesterday, I explored Liverpool and discovered a fantastic new pub that bakes its own pies. I give it a perfect 10 out of 10 for the pub, the food, and the staff. Interestingly, it's actually two pubs in one: The White Hart and The Engineer. This place is highly recommended and worth a visit even if you don't try the pies. Located near the universities, it's worth popping in for a look, whether for a half pint or a cup of tea. The ambiance is quirky, making it a unique experience. The bar staff even laughed at my Dad joke.

Very large English pub in the Georgian quarter near both universities. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a large outdoors seating area which we very much enjoyed. I would recommend checking out if you’re in the area!

Didn't eat here so can't do a food review. This place looks really classy curbside so we went in for a drink only to be transported to an earlier time in history. Everywhere you looked there was something old or interesting to look at. When you venture upstairs there is another bar and it just gets more interesting. We had a cocktail which was great and we definitely would recommend and return. Out the back there was a covered courtyard that was shared with another bar called the engineer (this also had upstairs seating) and an outdoor terrace which had lots of space and was larger than you would expect from the outside.

What a lovely pub. Loads of character and a nice conservatory and yard out back. Excellent beers including local ales. Pies, pasties and sausage rolls if you fancy a snack. Very friendly staff. In a really nice area of the city close to the University buildings. Good value. Well worth a visit.
