About This Pub

Ah, The Casa Bar on Hope Street – what a gem it is in Liverpool's bustling centre, right near the cathedrals and theatres. From what folks are saying, it's got this genuine, community feel that makes you want to settle in for a chat over a cold beer. The drinks are a highlight; they've got a cracking range of continental brews and spirits at prices that won't sting your wallet, plus happy hour until 6pm for those daytime treats. It's brilliant for all sorts of gatherings, whether you're planning a fundraiser or just popping in for a pre-theatre G&T, and the staff sound like absolute stars, always ready with a smile and efficient service. On the flip side, it's only open four days a week, which is a bit of a shame if you're set on a mid-week pint, and being a charitable outfit, it keeps things simple – no fancy frills here, just solid, honest vibes. All in all, if you're after an affordable, historic spot with heart, give it a go; it's got that special something that keeps people coming back, based on those glowing reviews averaging 4.6 stars.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The prices are spot on – it's one of those places where you can enjoy a decent double without breaking the bank, making it a real winner for a casual night out.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of beers on tap, like Mahou, Leffe, and Corona, plus gins and spirits galore, so there's something for everyone whether you're after a pint or a fancy cocktail.
  • The atmosphere is so welcoming and community-oriented; it's ideal for hosting events, fundraisers, or just chilling with mates in a historic spot tied to Liverpool's dockworkers heritage.
  • Smack in the middle of the university and theatre district, it's perfectly placed for a pre-show drink or a sunny afternoon session on Hope Street.
  • The service is top-notch from what I've heard – friendly staff who go the extra mile, whether it's pouring a perfect pint or helping out with an event.
Cons
  • It only seems to be open four days a week, which might cramp your plans if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit on a quiet evening.
  • As a charitable trust, it might not have the flashiest decor or the latest trends, so if you're after something ultra-modern, it could feel a bit traditional or low-key.
  • With just 140 reviews overall, it's not the most buzzing spot online, which might mean fewer events or updates compared to bigger chains.

Historical place for IDC, for the dockworkers movement. We can feel the power of Liverpool Dockers inside it. Cheers! #WeWillNeverWalkAloneAgain

I used to come many years ago when Liverpool Chess club used to play in the basement. It has a very long association with Liverpool dockers and this can be seen from the photos on the walls It brought back a lot of memories as I've not been here for nearly twenty years. It's now been updated and seems very popular. Good beers and nice staff.
