About This Pub
You know, when I think about the White Cart in Glasgow, it's got that lovely mix of traditional pub charm and a bit of something special – think hearty chargrilled dishes and a good selection of Scottish brews that make it a proper treat. The staff are generally spot-on, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels looked after, which is brilliant for family outings or celebrating with mates. It's dead handy for sports fans too, with live events on the screens creating a buzzing atmosphere. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing; I've heard from a few folks that things can drag when it's packed, like waiting forever for your main or dealing with food that doesn't quite live up to expectations. Still, it's a solid choice if you're after a relaxed spot in the area – just pop in when it's quieter to get the best of it, and you'll likely have a grand time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely brilliant, with chargrilled steaks and burgers that hit the spot, plus plenty of options for vegetarians and gluten-free diners.
-
The staff are so welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home – perfect for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.
-
It's a fantastic spot for families and even dogs, with a cosy atmosphere and extras like a beer garden and live sports on the telly.
-
They've got a great vibe for watching events like the Women's Euros, with big screens and a lively crowd that makes it fun to catch the game.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit hit-and-miss during busy times, with some waits stretching on for ages and leaving you a tad frustrated.
-
There have been a few complaints about food quality, like starters that weren't up to scratch, which can put a damper on the evening.
-
It might feel inconsistent overall, with some visits going smoothly and others feeling rushed or overlooked when things get hectic.

Celebrated my wife's My wife's Mary's 70th birthday party in the function suite. Had an amazing time . The venue was superb as was the service . Big thanks to Clancy and the staff for taking care of us from the moment we arrived . The food was superb as was the service . Lots of people told me their meal was cracking. Cannot praise the White Cart highly enough and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about having a celebration there. Thanks again 👍
Arrived at 4.55pm (booked for 5pm) got our table straight away and girl who sat us down was lovely that’s the only pleasant thing I can say about my visit
Starter was frozen, only offered one drink, sat for almost 2 hours with no sign of our main meal arriving, asked for the bill and left at 6.45pm having had no main meal only a cold starter and one drink…
Bare in mind we were with a small child who had finished her meal and had to sit and wait over an hour with her parents while they waited for their food to arrive (and she was wanting a dessert too but no one came to ask if we would like another drink or if the child would like a dessert)
Won’t be returning I’m afraid, I really wanted to try this place too I’m so disappointed ☹️
Brought my Mum & Dad here for their 57th Anniversary. All the staff were welcoming from the outset & our server Kerry was friendly, attentive & efficient throughout our time at the White Cart. All the food we ordered was lovely & reasonably priced. We will definitely return soon.
Lovely welcoming family friendly pub restaurant 🩷 sat us next to roaring fire just as the snow came on outside. Server Kerry was amazing. Miss her already! Made such a fuss over our boys even helped the wee one with his jacket as he was getting tangled 😂 Nashville burger for hubby which he said was perfect. Mine was my usual hunters chicken. It was quite dry and didn’t like flavour of fries. I get this dish every time I go out so maybe I am spoiled by our local where chicken cooked to perfection. Boys had medium rump steak which was perfect size for them and they devoured every bite! Halloumi fries fantastic and all served really quickly! Plenty parking. 🅿️ A lovely Saturday lunch and hopefully we will return soon.
Just back from one of the worst meals I've ever had. Arrived at 5 and while it was busy, it wasn't full, but still took 20 minutes to come take our order. Was told it could take a while for our food as it was busy, but that was fine, was happy to wait and have a couple drinks, then the server came back twice to tell us what we'd ordered wasn't available (haggis fritters starter and roast beef (X2) for the Sunday roast. So we ordered a couple of changes (turkey substitute) and sat waiting. Half an hour later our starters arrived, which were nice so we didn't mind the wait too much. We then waited another 40 minutes for our main meals - the 'roast' was anything but. Frozen food reheated, the buttered greens were merely boiled broccoli, the roast glazed carrots again boiled, rock hard and no sign of a glaze. Roast potatoes like the bottom of a bag of frozen ones, chewy and hard. Yorkshire pudding frozen and rubbery and no sign of any stuffing. About about 8 slices of turkey with gravy which was way too thick. Just a horrible plate of food and nobody even bothered to ask how it was, the servers clearly knew and were embarrassed.
The women's toilet was out of order, signposted to go to the accessible toilet, which was also out of order so had to use the baby change - which was absolutely stinking of baby poo (expected) but not very nice in an eatery having to use that.
All in all an absolutely awful time, so disappointed as we've been many times in the past and couldn't fault it. Avoid on Sundays at all costs, and certainly don't order the Sunday roast.
