About This Pub

Ah, Coppertrees Bar & Grill – it's one of those places in East Kilbride that you hear about from mates and think, 'Right, we should give that a go.' From what I've gathered, they've got this real passion for fresh, quality grub, using local ingredients to whip up menus that cover everything from brunch to dinner, and it's all served in a modern, open-plan space with a lovely garden for those sunnier days. The food stands out as a real winner; folks rave about the generous portions and flavours that make you want to come back for more, whether it's a hearty Sunday lunch or something lighter. It's super family-friendly too, which is brilliant if you're out with the kids or even the dog – makes it feel inclusive and welcoming. On the flip side, though, service can be a mixed bag; some experiences are spot-on with helpful staff going the extra mile, but others mention it feeling a tad rushed or lacking that personal touch, like not getting much of a chat when you arrive. Then there's the odd kitchen mishap, such as steaks coming out overcooked or pricing surprises that leave you scratching your head, and the noise from the open layout can make it a bit lively for a cosy evening. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together if you're in Glasgow way, but I'd say keep an eye on those little niggles to make sure your visit hits all the high notes – after all, it's about enjoying good times with good company, isn't it?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious with generous portions that leave you feeling satisfied – think tasty Sunday lunches and fresh, locally sourced ingredients that really hit the spot.
  • It's a welcoming spot for everyone, whether you're popping in with the family, a group of mates, or even your furry four-legged friend; the atmosphere is lively and modern, making it feel like a proper community hub.
  • Staff can be really helpful and friendly, especially when it comes to accommodating special needs, like smaller portions for those who need them.
  • With a moderate price level, it's great value for money, offering a variety of options from brunch to dinner in a spacious venue with a large garden that's perfect for a relaxed outing.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes fall flat, with reports of it feeling a bit impersonal or lacking that warm engagement, like just being told to sit anywhere without much of a smile.
  • There might be issues with food preparation, such as overcooked dishes or the odd inedible bit, which can put a damper on the meal.
  • The open-plan design makes it quite noisy at times, especially if you're seated near the bar, so it might not be ideal for a quiet catch-up.
  • Pricing can be confusing, with some folks getting charged from the a la carte menu instead of the lunch options, leading to unexpected costs.

Was there for a 60th birthday lunch waiting staff could not have been more helpful especially to my mother who eats very small portions. Gave her the salt and chilli chicken but enough for her to enjoy and not look like a child's portion.

Went for lunch and ordered of the lunch menu. Apparently it seems you get charged off the a la carte menu if you don’t take up there 2 or 3 course lunch offer. Something which isn’t explained when you order. So £24 for a fish but if I ordered a starter or a dessert it would be £24. Make that make sense. Also their lunch menu online doesn’t state anything like this.

Service and starters were good but unfortunately the steak frites was bad (overcooked despite asking for medium rare, and with 2 inedible -gristle- pieces).

First time visiting. Restaurant looks nice and modern. Was quite loud but I think it's because of the open plan type of style and our table was beside the bar as well. We had turkey festive dinner, and pumpkin risotto. Was lovely, portion sizes quite decent, risotto was a bit mushy but still quite tasty. I would recommend to try this place at least once. I am happy we did

Overall experience of this wee place hidden in East Kilbride was good. Food itself was very delish and worth the pennies sadly what let it down was the service. No smile, no engagement just came in and was told to sit yourself anywhere, then waited 10mins to be given a paper menu and drinks order to be taken. Now I know how it can be in a busy environment but there wasn’t that many customers in at the time. So unsure why it took such a large time to be given a menu or drinks. The food came out and was brilliantly presented and tasted just as good as it looked. (Starters were chicken teriyaki and mushroom Tart) For the main we had a steak burger and spinach and ricotta ravioli (with a creamy nut sauce) Sadly didn’t get any deserts as we asked twice for a desert menu (which there was only 4/5 to choose from, from initially seeing them on the menu at the start) but ended up being left to our own devices before we called it quits. Food was presented well and tasted brilliant, the atmosphere and look of the place was impressive and very modern, but the service left us a little underwhelmed as this place was recommended to us by a fellow foodie and friend of ours. We may revisit in the future but not in any rush to do so.
