About This Pub

Ah, the Wheatsheaf Inn – it's one of those cosy spots that really hits the mark for a laid-back evening out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, and the beer choices are spot on for kicking back with friends. The food's a standout too; we're talking proper home-cooked grub like delicious pizzas packed with toppings and other hearty options that punch well above their weight, all at prices that won't break the bank. It's got that family vibe going on, with games for the kids and outdoor seating that's just lovely on a warm day. But, to keep it real, it's not perfect – if you're a dog lover, you'll be stuck outside, which isn't the most glamorous spot with the traffic and smokers about, and there've been a couple of mixed experiences lately that make me think it might not suit everyone. Overall, though, with a stellar 4.6 rating, it's worth a visit if you're in the area for some good times and a decent pint, just go in with your eyes open to the quirks.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of beers, including options like Marstons, perfect for a relaxing pint with mates.
  • The food is spot on – think tasty home-cooked meals, brilliant pizzas with loads of toppings, and great value for money, like a full meal for under £25.
  • Outdoor seating is a real treat, especially on a sunny summer day when you can enjoy a chilled beer al fresco.
  • It's family-friendly too, with games for the little ones and a warm atmosphere that makes it easy to pop in for a bite or a drink.
Cons
  • It's a shame for dog owners, as you can't bring your furry friend inside due to allergies, leaving you with the basic outdoor area near smokers and traffic.
  • Some recent feedback suggests the outside space feels a bit ordinary and not as inviting as it could be.
  • There might be a few hitches with the operating hours, as they've varied in reports, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

Unfortunately it's not available inside to dog owners (landlady is allergic) so only option is a very ordinary outside, with the smokers or traffic. Pity as I needed a pint of Marstons 😔

I have visited this place a few times now, the beer selection is great, the staff very friendly, and it seems to be a great place to go for a few drinks with friends. There is also outdoor seating, which is wonderful in the summer, what's better than sitting outdoor in the heat, with a chilled beer. Note: I have not added a star review for food, only because I have not had food here.

Very welcoming and friendly pub. The owners have worked really hard on the menu and the quality of the food really punches above its weight. There are a lot of home cooked items on the menu which elevate their food above the usual corporate pub grub offered by larger pubs. They have an excellent beer garden and plenty of parking. Definitely worth a visit.

Just had some pizzas from here, honestly they are the best pizzas about. More toppings than any other pizza shop I've come across. The salt and pepper chips are without doubt the best I've seen. Really good price too, all that in the picture £23.50. Brilliant value and will be there again 100%
