About This Pub

Ah, the Wellington in Bebington – it's one of those classic pubs that feels like a go-to for a relaxed catch-up or cheering on the big matches. From what folks are saying, the team behind the bar are usually spot on, offering that warm greeting that makes you want to settle in for the evening. It's ace for sports fans, with all the Premier League and cricket action on multiple screens, and they've got games like pool and darts to keep the fun going. Plus, the prices are just right, so you can enjoy a few pints or their tasty pizza deals without worrying about the wallet. On the downside, though, service can be a bit hit-and-miss, sometimes taking ages even when it's quiet, and the constant sports blaring might be overwhelming if you're after a quieter vibe. The food options don't go much beyond basic pizzas, and I've heard a couple of stories about unpleasant incidents that could sour the atmosphere. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're local and fancy a pint, but go in knowing it's not perfect – just your typical pub with its ups and downs.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are genuinely welcoming and make you feel right at home, which really sets a nice tone for a casual visit.
  • It's got a brilliant setup for watching live sports, with plenty of screens showing big games like the Premier League and Champions League.
  • Prices are spot on for a good night out – everything feels inexpensive without skimping on quality.
  • There's loads of fun to be had with games like pool and darts, keeping things lively and entertaining.
  • Their pizza deals are a cracking bargain, with fresh options that hit the spot when you're peckish.
Cons
  • Service can drag on a bit, even when it's not busy, which might leave you waiting longer than you'd like for a drink.
  • The TVs are often blasting sports at full volume, which can make it hard to have a proper chat if you're not in the mood for it.
  • Food choices are a tad limited, mostly sticking to basic pizzas that don't always feel all that special.
  • The beer selection is pretty standard, with just the usual lagers on tap and not much in the way of real ales or variety.
  • There have been a few off moments, like arguments or a less than welcoming vibe, that could put a dampener on your evening.

Off the cuff visit with family after visiting port sunlight food festival. Having never been here before wasn't sure what to expect. Warm welcome from the lady on the bar extremely friendly as were the customers. Boys loved the pool table and darts...TV screens for those wanting sport etc. Good selection of snacks available. The pizzas smelt delicious 😋 various good offers on drinks aswell. Will definitely be back for a future visit 👍

nice little pub. the pizza deal on Wednesdays is good value, the pizza is decent. good do with a better selection of real ales, however. just fairly standard lagers on offer.

OH MY GOD!!! Wasn’t even eating at this place but what looks like the manager has just kicked the door of a DPD driver and decided to have an argument with this poor young girl even though she was only delivering a parcel!! SHOCKING!!! Male manager looked very angry and very rude this is not the type of behaviour I expect from an establishment like this, let alone a manager disgraceful!!!!

Tv blasting out sports all of the time. I mean who really needs the darts on full volume? Pub seems to have gone through an update but is not very welcoming and doesn't sell much food apart from aldi pizzas in pizza boxes. Nothing special, and that's a shame as it used to be a thriving pub, but I imagine the closure of the bookies led the pub to be this way. Acorns a good lively pub and not too far away

Reasonably priced, loads of parking, plenty of TVs for the footy, a dartboard and the decor was top-notch. However, the service was awful as the pub was dead and it took several minutes to get served, as did other customers that came in. We visited mid-week for a couple of pints though, so I've been bearing that in mind.
