About This Pub

Ah, the Wellington – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, it's got this warm, inviting feel right from the moment you walk in, with staff who are always smiling and ready to make your visit memorable. The Sunday carvery stands out as a real winner; it's hearty, well-cooked, and leaves you satisfied without breaking the bank too much. Then there are the evenings with live music, bingo, or open mic nights – they add a fun, community vibe that gets everyone joining in. It's especially nice when it's quiet, giving you that perfect spot to unwind with a drink. But, let's be fair, it does have its downsides; things can get a bit crowded on busier nights, turning the relaxed setting into something more chaotic, and the drinks prices might make you think twice before ordering another round. Overall, though, if you're after a place with great grub, friendly faces, and a bit of entertainment, it's worth popping in – just keep an eye on your wallet and pick your timing right for the best experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Sunday carvery is absolutely spot on – tender, tasty meat and plenty of it, making it a real treat for a weekend meal.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home.
  • It's got a lovely relaxed vibe, especially when it's not too busy, with live music on weekends and fun events like bingo and open mic nights that keep things lively.
  • The atmosphere is welcoming and chilled, perfect for catching up with mates over a pint or enjoying some tunes.
Cons
  • It can get a bit hectic when things pick up, making it harder to relax if you're after a quiet evening.
  • Prices might catch you off guard – like splashing out over £20 for a couple of pints and a lemonade, which feels a tad steep for what you get.

Popped in hopeful of a Sunday dinner though skeptical being Mums day. Welcomed and there was a seat. Food was great, hot and plentiful. Manager was chatty and friendly. We will be back.

I went today with a friend for the Sunday carvery. It was excellent. The meat was beautifully cooked and very tasty. We will definitely be going back for the carvery but are also going to go on curry night!!! Sounds delicious. The live music on Saturday nights is also really good. Fabulous atmosphere
