About This Pub

You know, chatting about Waz's Bistrôt feels like sharing a good yarn over a pint – it's got this charming, authentic feel that's hard to beat in Bromsgrove. The food really steals the show; think perfectly cooked steaks with the crispiest chips you've ever tasted, or a half lobster with prawns and mussels that are just bursting with fresh, fruity flavours. It's all so thoughtfully prepared and presented, leaving you with that satisfied glow after a meal. The atmosphere adds to it nicely – it's personal rather than overly intimate, with a welcoming host who makes everything feel effortless and enjoyable. Pair that with some decent wine or a quality coffee, and you're onto a winner. On the flip side, though, it's a bit of a shame that it's only open two days a week and wraps up by 5pm, which means it's not ideal if you're after a relaxed evening out or fancy dropping by without planning ahead. And with no buzz from recent reviews, it might not be as lively as it once was, but based on the glowing feedback from folks like Mark and Shelley, it's still worth making the effort for a special treat. All in all, if you're up for some top Mediterranean fare in a friendly setting, give it a go – just check the schedule first!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely superb – it's well thought out, cooked to perfection, and packed with flavours that really make your taste buds sing.
  • The atmosphere is spot on; it's personal and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Service is top-notch with a friendly host who goes the extra mile to make your visit memorable.
  • They've got quality drinks and coffee that pair beautifully with the meals, adding to the overall experience.
Cons
  • It's only open two days a week, which can make it tricky to pop in on a whim.
  • The hours are limited to 9am through to 5pm, so it's not the best spot for a late-night catch-up or evening meal.
  • From what I've seen, there haven't been any recent reviews, which might suggest things have quietened down a bit lately.

There is no doubt that the food at Waz's Bistro is superb. It is well thought out, fabulously cooked and beautifully presented. The flavours burst on the tongue and my steak (Rare) was cooked perfectly and served with some of the best chips I've ever had. The atmosphere is great. Maybe the music is a bit loud and, when it changed to accordion and cool jazz, it seemed much more appropriate. I love the bar across the far wall - it's a real eye catcher and a great statement. Waz comes around once the kitchen is closed and talks to his customers. This really adds to the experience and he shows his passion for his food in every breath. It's early days in the new venue and I have to say that the only thing that is letting Waz down at the moment is the front of house staff. They are all young and inexperienced and seem to lack basic training. The lack of service was a disappointment. Once this is right, and the team is taught about upselling and are a knowledgeable and as passionate about the food as Waz, this place is going to be hard to beat for many miles around. Has the poor service on the night put us off..? It made us think twice, but the quality of the food means we're coming back for our birthdays in about six weeks. Waz and his food won us over.

What a menu! An array of excellent creations which I hope to have the opportunity to try in the future. I chose the half lobster... The prawns were delicious, the mussels perfectly cooked, served in an amazing edible basket with a tasty, fruit packed Quinoa.... Good wine, quality coffee and a great atmosphere. Waz and his team are amazing hosts and this place has abundant character. I highly recommend! Thank you! Hope to return.

Hmm... I can see how this may not be someone's cup of tea. The restaurant is authentic, the owner is authentic, the food is... fantastic! The atmosphere is probably not intimate but it's personal. Had a sausage as starter (10*) and aubergine as main (8* just a bit too much cheese for me). Next time lobster! 👌☺️ No need to recommend, you already want to come here anyway. Enjoy your visit.
