About This Pub

Ah, Waterside – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a go-to spot in Warrington, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this warm, welcoming vibe that's perfect for families or a casual meet-up with friends. The food really shines; think juicy steaks cooked exactly how you like them, stacked burgers that hit the spot, and even solid options for veggies and vegans, all at prices that won't break the bank. I've heard great things about the breakfasts too – a full English for around a tenner sounds like a bargain, and folks rave about the service, with staff who actually pay attention and get your order right. It's got all the nice touches, like a beer garden for sunny days, being dog-friendly, and easy access for everyone. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; there was that one roast dinner disaster with skimpy portions and dry Yorkshires that left someone proper disappointed, and don't forget the car park rigmarole – you have to register your car straight away, or it could turn into a headache. Overall, though, with a solid 4.3 rating from loads of happy visitors, I'd say it's worth a punt if you're in the area, just maybe skip the roasts and go for what they're known for. It's that kind of place where the good bits far outweigh the bad, making it a reliable choice for a relaxed pint and a bite.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on, with chargrilled steaks, burgers, and plenty of veggie and vegan choices that keep everyone happy – it's a real treat for a family meal or catch-up with mates.
  • It's super family-friendly, with kids loving the wraps and pasta, and the whole place feels welcoming, whether you're popping in for a quick bite after school or a relaxed evening.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are attentive and know their stuff, like getting steak orders just right, which makes for a really enjoyable visit.
  • Great value for money, especially with deals on breakfast or lunches – you can get a full English for a tenner and still feel like you've had a proper feast.
  • Lovely facilities, including a beer garden, dog-friendly vibes, and easy parking with registration, plus it's clean and in a quiet spot, perfect for a chilled-out day.
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss; one experience had a disappointing roast with tiny portions and dry bits, which really let things down for what should be a classic pub meal.
  • The car park setup might be a bit of a faff – you have to remember to register your car reg on arrival, or you could end up with a fine, which isn't the most relaxing start to your visit.
  • Not every visit is flawless; there was a mention of issues with discounts not working, which might leave you feeling a tad frustrated if you're counting on a deal.

This is a firm favourite for me for a variety of reasons. We have had special family meals here such as birthdays. It’s a firm favourite with the kids for a cheeky after school tea. They love the wraps and pasta and we feel it’s great value for money! I also use this place to meet up with friends for a little drink before heading out somewhere further afield. I have also attended events in the marquee which have always been amazing! Overall the pub is great for many different things whether that’s date night, you can’t be bothered making tea, meeting up with friends, a nice lunch in the sun or an event like a wedding or christening. The staff are always welcoming and the service is speedy. The food is fab and I love the variety and seasonal changes!

Came here for a roast with my mum today and was so disappointed. We each had one piece of brocolli each, and I think the photo speaks for itself in regards to the roast potatoes, they were more like parmentier potatoes. Yorkshire pudding was so dry and just tasted like oil. The beef was lovely, but that was about it unfortunately.

Went in for lunch and a few drinks with my sons, food and service here is fantastic, steaks cooked perfectly.. couldn't get my blue light card to generate a discount code but I was happy to pay the full tab, worth every penny....thank you.

Beautiful clean pub in a lovely quiet location. We arrived just for breakfast, we didn’t stay at the hotel and were still welcomed. We had continental plus full english for £10 each. Lovely quality breakfast and lovely coffee ☕️. Highly recommended and value for money. We will come again next time we stay in Warrington. Thank you Adele ☺️

It was just great. For starters we had: chicken wings, prawns and squid. All cooked to perfection. Seasoning was delicious. For main we all had steak. All dishes came as we asked, well done & medium rare. The waitress actually knew which one was well and which one was medium. I just don’t appreciate going to pubs and people mix the orders. The staff was absolutely great. Always present, making sure we were fine. My family enjoyed every minute. Best top 3 on my list. I've been back to this pub on 16/6/2024. Everything remains the same except for the Grilled Herb Butter King Prawn. They were undercooked and not the same size as the previous time. Not only that but tasteless. My daughter had Mac "N" Cheese and it was delicious. I had the T-bone with Merlot & Beef sauce and it was just perfect. My wife who had the prawns was disappointed. Hello! We were back to this restaurant/ pub and it was amazing. We tried the tomahawk and it was wow. Perfect. A delicious surprise. It is a place I’ll keep going back.
