About This Pub

Ah, the Postern Gate – it's one of those places in Warrington that you pop into for a casual pint and end up staying for the vibe. I have to say, what really stands out is how they keep things affordable; you're not breaking the bank on drinks, and there's that brilliant jukebox where you can queue up a stack of songs for just a fiver. Plus, free pool on Wednesdays (and maybe Mondays too) is a proper treat for a bit of friendly competition. The events are spot on – Indieoke on Thursdays and Open Mic on Tuesdays bring in a great crowd, and if you're into rock and metal, Asylum night on the last Friday is an absolute blast with its energetic atmosphere. They've got a solid selection of beers as well, like those keg IPAs that hit the spot just right. On the flip side, though, service can be a bit of a letdown; I've heard tales of long waits and staff who aren't always as cheerful as you'd hope, which does take the edge off. And those plastic glasses? Well, they're practical, I suppose, but they don't quite add to the traditional pub feel for me. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after a good time with mates, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking evening.

OK, some good music to dance to, not keen on plastic glasses.

The service leaves much to be desired: long waiting times, rude staff, and a complete lack of attention to customers. Very disappointed.

Highly recommend. Nice staff. Jukebox. £5 for 22 songs. Bonza. Free pool on Wednesday. Maybe also on a Monday? Usually a good selection of beer. I.e. they have a keg IPA that I'm happy with usually. Indieoke on a Thursday; BRILLIANT. Open mic Tuesday BOSH.
