About This Pub
Ah, Trevor Arms, it's one of those pubs that really pulls at the heartstrings if you're from around Wrexham – I've heard tales of lively Saturday nights from years back, with live music and simple pleasures like chicken and chips feeling like the height of elegance. Fast forward to now, and it's still dishing out some cracking food; the homemade curry and fish and chips get rave reviews, and folks are raving about how quickly it arrives and how good it tastes. The service shines when it's on form, with staff being polite and making you feel welcome, which is just what you want after a long day. It's ace for a family gathering or a casual bite, and the prices are fair enough that you won't feel short-changed. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses – the place does look a tad tired, like it needs a lick of paint or some updates to keep up with the times. We've had a few mentions of orders going awry and only one staff member trying to juggle everything, which can make things a bit chaotic on a quiet Thursday. Still, with an overall solid rating, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area; just go in with realistic expectations, and you might end up recommending it to your mates as a hidden gem that could do with a little love.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty homemade curries, fresh fish and chips, and desserts that hit the spot, all served up with a smile.
-
Service can be really warm and welcoming; when they've got the staff on board, it's attentive and makes you feel right at home.
-
It's got that nostalgic charm, perfect for a relaxed family meal or a catch-up with mates, and offers brilliant value for your money.
Cons
-
The pub itself looks a bit worn out and could do with a freshen-up; it's got potential but feels neglected in places.
-
Staffing seems stretched at times, leading to mix-ups like wrong orders, which can put a dampener on the evening.
-
On quieter nights, you might notice it's not as buzzing as it could be, with just one person handling everything.

When I was in my late teens, 47/48 years ago, my mates and I would often take a drive from Wrexham and spend our Saturday night in The Trevor Arms (a friend of ours lived locally). There was usually live music of some sort and we considered it the height of sophistication to have chicken and chips - in a basket!
Food was lovely, the curry was great! However the pub itself is looking a bit tired and could do with an update.
Our order arrived wrong but was rectified by the one member of staff who was working on a Thursday evening.
There's a balance and this almost balances the wrong way.
The pub itself has huge potential but feels a bit neglected. They are clearly struggling for staff with 1 man on the bar and serving everyone. Albeit, only 5 customers on a Thursday night so not this biggest of tasks.
The food - always concerns me when the waiter just remembers the order and then heads off to the kitchen. We ordered curry with rice and chips and steak & ale pie. We received curry and chips and a rump steak. The mistakes were well dealt with and we paid for what we ordered as we happily switched plates between us.
Overall - the pub lacks some upkeep, and the food was excellent for what we received.
Superb food, homemade curry is lovely. A very warm welcome and an attentive server. Extremely pleasant. Highly recommended for a family get together. Excellent value for money. No one out of 7 having different meals were not disappointed. Brilliant value for money. I would highly recommend a visit. You'll be glad you did!! ☺️
I came here with my partner for an evening meal. Food and service were 10/10! I had the prawn starter, fish and chips and the New York cheesecake. All were served quickly and tasted fantastic. The man who served us was friendly and polite. We would definitely come here again, if we’re in the area :)
