About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Top House, it just brings a smile to my face; it's one of those pubs where everything feels just right for a casual catch-up with friends. The food is spot on – think succulent roasts and hearty portions that make you wonder how they keep the prices so reasonable. The staff are an absolute delight, always chatting away and making sure your meal comes out lightning fast, which is brilliant if you're in a hurry. It's got that homely, family-run charm, and the menu's got plenty of variety, including good options for vegetarians, so no one's left out. On the flip side, though, the car park can be a nightmare on busy days, and those little things like not having branded sauces might niggle at you if you're fussy. Plus, with it being shut on Sunday evenings, you have to plan around that if you're aiming for a night out. All in all, it's a solid spot for good grub and a laugh, but just keep those minor drawbacks in mind to make the most of your visit.

Cons

The car park can get really busy, particularly on Sundays, which might make it a bit of a hassle to find a spot.

A few small niggles, like the lack of branded sauces, which some might miss for that extra touch.

It's closed on Sunday evenings, so if you're after a late meal, you might have to look elsewhere.
-
The operating hours seem a tad confusing from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment.

Great menu for a pub. Friendly staff. Quick service. Lovely food. Large carpark. Few minutes from centre of Bishop Auckland.
Recommend you try here.
Great Customer Service- went to The Top House twice in the last week, once, just my wife and again the following night with Son, partner and Grandson. Food was great on both nights and the staff could not do enough for us, especially when we had our Grandson with us. Whatever we asked for, nothing was too much trouble, went t the bar made our request and was told 'No problem, we'll bring it over.
When the owner (I assume) said on the first night that these were the best Steaks in the North, I had a Fillet on the first night, he wasn't wrong, it was juicy, tender and tasted like a steak should. I didn't think could get better, but I had the T Bone on the second night, it was superb! My wife had the corned beef pie and her plate was cleared
We would highly recommend The Top House for anyone thinking of going there, you will not be disappointed
Came down from Scotland today for Spennymoor match and had lunch with my friend before the game.
Lovely welcome, very attentive and caring staff and excellent home made meals. Serving of roast beef was massive was succulent and melt in the mouth. Great cask beers. Perfect venue for lunch/dinner in a very friendly atmosphere. Highly Recommended
Quick lunch, i had the Cornedbeef pie, Mrs had the Pork Chop.
Great service, lovely meal, highly recommend. Clean, modern, friendly.
Would have liked branded sauces, carpark can get really busy.
Apart from those small details, it's a gem of a place, be back soon.
Lovely menu, with a nice range. A good vegetarian section and cheaper lunch time prices.
The service was very quick and food was out in 10 mins.
