About This Pub

Ah, Toby Carvery Oaklands – it's one of those places that really warms you up on a chilly evening, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the roasts are the star of the show; they're freshly prepared with care, offering tender meats and veg that leave you feeling properly satisfied. The team there seems to be on top form, always ready with a smile and a helping hand, whether it's answering questions or making things easier for those with mobility needs – it's those little touches that make a visit stand out. It's brilliant for families or a casual get-together, with plenty of options to suit different tastes and that all-you-can-eat vibe keeping things relaxed. On the flip side, while it's generally a solid spot, the overall feel might not be as magical on busier days, and being part of a chain means it doesn't quite capture that authentic, homely pub charm some of us crave. All in all, if you're after a reliable feed and good company, it's worth a punt, but keep in mind it might not wow you every single time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The roasts are spot on – fresh veggies, tender meat, and a great selection that makes every meal feel like a proper treat.
  • The staff are absolute gems; they're helpful, polite, and go out of their way to make your visit memorable, like sorting out tech issues or assisting with disabilities.
  • It's super family-friendly with all-you-can-eat options, including vegetarian and vegan dishes, plus a kids' menu, so it's perfect for gathering with mates or the whole clan.
  • Easy parking and a straightforward location make it a breeze to pop in, and they've got a solid range of drinks to wash it all down.
Cons
  • With an overall rating hovering around good but not outstanding, it might not hit the mark every time, perhaps due to busier days when things feel a bit rushed.
  • As a chain spot, it lacks that cosy, one-of-a-kind pub vibe – it's more about reliable roasts than a unique local atmosphere, which could disappoint if you're after something more intimate.

Christina our waitress was absolutely amazing. She couldn't do enough for us! She even helped me sort out my phone when it came to paying on the Toby app. She also answered all our questions we asked! will definitely come back again and again. Thanks for a fantastic evening.

We had a really lovely meal here yesterday. Adrianna and Cristina, our server, were so helpful as I have a physical disability. Adrianna even helped me get my food and carried it back to the table for me which was greatly appreciated, as my mum, who I was dining with was able to get her food without trying to juggle two plates. The food was great quality. The veg wasn’t overcooked and the meat was succulent and delicious. One of the best Toby’s I’ve visited! Thank you.

Like many others, I’m a roast dinner lover and am a frequent visitor to Toby Carvery. We just so happened to be in Borehamwood and decided to go for a quick Toby. Let me just say that this was probably the best one I’ve visited (and we’ve been to a good fair few around the country). We did visit on a Thursday so it was very quiet and calm and the food was fresh and hot. The staff here were what stood out too because they were so friendly and bubbly - something we aren’t used to in this day and age and the one who stood out was Cristina, our waitress. Honestly she was absolutely fantastic, so polite and friendly! She is what would make us return to this one for sure. What a stand out service! I’d give 10 stars if I could. Deffo recommend this Toby!

Visited Toby Carvery Oaklands whilst in the area and loved the ease of the whole experience. Parking available and easily accessible, bar and carving station located perfectly. The atmosphere was good and the food was excellent. Fresh vegetables and unlike other carveries I have been to the meat was tender and not dried out. Staff were friendly and polite. No issues with me changing my mind mid ordering of a drink. Toilet facilities were maintained and clean. Overall an enjoyable experience!
