Nice pub with friendly staff .real ale and food available
I remembered this as being a not very good 'spoons so was pleasantly surprised. Superb Sunday roast (I had the lamb). Vegetables not overcooked like most places. I followed with the sticky toffee pudding which was gooey and delicious. Excellent food made better by delightful and cheery service. (Till receipt says her name was Connie). Will definitely be back.
Visited the pick and shovel on Wednesday afternoon for lunch as was in the area. The pub was recommended by a work colleague and I must say I was pretty impressed. Menu has a good variety of dishes and reasonably priced too. I ordered the rodeo beef burger, which comes with onion rings, cheese, bbq sauce and substituted the chips for sweet potato fries. That brioche bun was literal perfection and the meal overall was very tasty. portions were great, staff were friendly, pub has a laid back vibe that was ideal for some midweek grub. I’ll be back to try the jerk burger!
