About This Pub
Ah, Mops & Brooms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, tucked away on the edge of Borehamwood with gorgeous views over the Hertfordshire countryside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are real gems; folks like Lotty and Thea make every visit feel personal, whether it's sorting out a special meal for the kids or just having a quick chat over drinks. The food's another winner – proper British fare with generous portions that leave you satisfied, and it's family-friendly too, with a garden that's perfect for letting the little ones run about while you sip on some locally brewed ales or wines. On the flip side, it does get packed at times, so you might face a wait or even miss out on certain dishes if you're there late, and those outdoor spots are grab-what-you-can, which isn't ideal for planning ahead. Still, with its welcoming atmosphere and that touch of rural charm, it's well worth a visit for a relaxed catch-up with mates – just pop in early to snag the best seats and avoid any disappointments.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly faces like Lotty and Thea who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, which really adds to the homely vibe.
-
The food is spot on; think hearty British classics with large portions, like chargrilled meats and those slow-cooked Sunday roasts that hit the spot every time.
-
It's a fantastic spot for families and dog owners, with a lovely garden for the little ones to play in and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy when the weather's nice.
-
Set in a peaceful rural location with stunning views across Hertfordshire, it's ideal for unwinding with a pint of locally brewed real ale or a cheeky cocktail.
-
Overall, it's got that warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger, backed by a solid 4.4 rating from plenty of happy visitors.
Cons
-
It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, which might mean waiting for a table or, like in one case, finding they've run out of popular dishes such as roast beef.
-
The outside tables are first-come-first-served only, so if you're set on al fresco dining, you might miss out if you don't get there early.
-
Being a bit out in the countryside, it could be a trek if you're not local, and the moderate prices might add up for a full meal and drinks.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Lotty went above and beyond helping us and sorting some dinner for my granddaughter. Will be back definitely
Lotty had a chat with us at the table, the drinks arrived promptly as did the food which was lovely. Had a great afternoon
Had a fantastic meal tonight, the food was excellent, with great fast service from thea, and ellie and crystal greeting us with a warm welcome. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be back soon :)
Absolutely delicious food and such large portions! Lotty was amazing with service and such a lovely person. Overly a brilliant meal out with family.
We enjoyed our dining experience on Sunday 22 September 2024.
Unfortunately, they had run out of the roast beef option (but it WAS 2.30pm) so we settled for scampi and cod.
The food is always good here, and the service (although the pub was very busy) was exemplary.
