About This Pub
Ah, Three's a Crowd – what a gem of a spot in Harrogate for a proper pub outing. I have to say, the food really steals the show; it's all about those fresh, locally sourced ingredients and classic British dishes that hit the spot every time. Think succulent Sunday roasts with enormous Yorkshire puddings that are crispy on the outside and soft inside – pure bliss for a weekend treat. The team behind the bar and in the dining area are just brilliant, always cheerful and ready to chat or recommend a drink from their hand-picked wine list, which makes the whole experience feel personal and inviting. It's spot on for a relaxed catch-up with mates, and being dog-friendly adds that extra touch of charm for those who like to bring their furry pals along. Plus, with all those upcoming events like wine pairings and summer specials, there's always something fresh to look forward to. On the other hand, it's not without its quirks – I've picked up that waits for food can stretch out longer than you'd hope, which might put a dampener on things if you're in a rush. And while it's cosy, it can sometimes feel a bit too quiet, especially mid-week, so if you're craving a buzzing atmosphere, it might not quite deliver. All in all, it's a solid choice for good, honest grub and a laid-back vibe, but keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with fresh, seasonal ingredients and standout dishes like those massive Yorkshire puddings and perfectly roasted meats that make for a proper British treat.
-
The staff are friendly and attentive, always on hand with a warm welcome and helpful advice, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a relaxed, welcoming spot that's dog-friendly, ideal for enjoying a meal with friends, family, or even your four-legged companions.
-
They've got a great line-up of events and experiences, from wine pairing dinners to summer specials, adding a bit of excitement to your visit.
Cons
-
Service can sometimes drag on, like waiting ages for mains, which might leave you a bit frustrated on a busy evening.
-
The atmosphere can be a tad quiet at times, especially if you're after a lively buzz, making it feel a smidge underwhelming on off-peak nights.
-
Not every dish is a winner; I've heard tales of tougher cuts of meat that don't quite live up to the hype, so it pays to choose carefully.

The restaurant was a little quiet when we arrived. The food and service were excellent. The food was very well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even asked me to sample a new dish that the chef was photographing for their website. I can't fault the food and service. I'd certainly go again when in the area.
Came here on a weekday evening, there were only 2 other tables seated which left shortly after. Starters were fine, but we waited almost an hour for the mains. Can't help to think that the kitchen kept screwing up the order and refired more than once.
I got the featherblade but it tasted old, tough and dry. Alongside it was a rough and chunky mash potato which was seasoned well at least. And half a carrot. 3 elements on the plate, 1 hour, £24. Sad to say I'm not returning.
Called early Friday evening - the bar half was full, the dining half was ok. Plenty of choice from the menu, the two cask ales are both brewed by Theakstons. Allow at least one hour.
Went here on a spontaneous visit to grab some lunch and was not disappointed! Great service team and fabulous sunday roast. The sharing platter is a definite three portion (it promises 2/3!) and the Yorkshire puddings are HUGE with a perfect crunch. Will definitely return.
Our first roast (we’re Americans) it was a study in perfectly roasted meats and a glorious Yorkshire pudding. Crispy potatoes and roasted vegetables. That’s cheesy cauliflower a definite yes! The staff was friendly and pleasant. And oh yes I forgot the sticky toffee pudding was a necessary end to a lovely meal.
