About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Tannin Level – it's this charming British restaurant tucked away in Harrogate that's been a local favourite for nearly 40 years. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is just brilliant; think mouth-watering modern dishes made with the finest local Yorkshire ingredients, whether you're opting for a light lunch, a pre-theatre dinner, or their legendary midweek menu. The staff really shine too, being super friendly and efficient, which makes it perfect for celebrations like birthdays – I've heard tales of them adding little surprises like sparklers on desserts, which just warms the heart. On the flip side, it does get packed, so planning ahead is key to snag a table, and with prices on the moderate side, it might not be your everyday spot if you're watching the pennies. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone after a reliable, feel-good meal in a welcoming setting, and with those stellar ratings, you'd be hard-pressed not to have a lovely time there.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely top-notch, with fresh, seasonal Yorkshire ingredients that make every dish feel like a proper treat.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, always going the extra mile for special occasions like birthdays.
-
It's got a great atmosphere for a quiet meal out, and the early bird options offer brilliant value without skimping on quality.
-
High ratings from regulars show it's consistently reliable, with a variety of menus to suit different moods, from light lunches to full dinners.
-
Being an independent spot, it proudly showcases local produce, which adds a lovely touch of authenticity to the experience.
Cons
-
It can get really busy, especially during peak times, so you'll need to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
-
The operating status seems a bit unclear from what I've seen, so it's worth double-checking if it's open before heading over.
-
With a moderate price level, it might feel a tad steep for a casual midweek bite, though it's justified by the quality.

Went here with my husband and the quality of the food is very good. All the food was beautifully presented and the staff are friendly & efficient. The option to have an early bird meal is worth every penny.
We've been multiple times and never disappointed but this time was especially nice. Food spot on, staff was all lovely and even put a sparkler in the desert as we was there for a birthday.
Absolutely amazing experience! Food was 5/5 customer service was brilliant all in all a great place for a nice quiet meal out! 😊
Outstanding meal here for my husband’s birthday. Food was delicious and it was an amazing venue. Will be coming back
Excellent. Respectful, old school service, but as somewhat of an old-schooler myself, I enjoyed it. Menu full of interesting choices and certainly more than a couple on each course I would have tried, which is great for a small(ish) menu. Food clearly prepared with love and plated with care and attention. Chefs respectful of the ingredients and all cooked perfectly. Not too much fuss on the plate. A couple more choices of AF drinks would have been nice. I'll be keeping an eye on the menu through the year to see what seasonal changes are made. I will be back. Good value
