About This Pub

Ah, the Alexandra in Harrogate – it's one of those pubs that really warms the cockles with its rich history and welcoming vibe. From what I've gathered from folks who've popped in, the staff are stars, always going the extra mile to make sure you're sorted, whether it's helping with a booking or just a friendly chat over a pint. The food hits the spot too; those British classics like pies and sandwiches are spot on and offer brilliant value, especially with deals that won't break the bank. It's a lovely place to catch up with friends, perhaps over a match on the big screens, all set in this beautifully restored building that whispers tales of its past as a 19th-century hotel. On the downside, a few have mentioned the portions feeling a bit skimpy for the price, and it can take a while for the food to arrive, which is a shame when you're eager for that hearty meal. Plus, it might feel a touch cool inside on colder days, so keep that in mind. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out, blending tradition with a bit of modern fun, but it's worth going in with realistic expectations to keep things enjoyable.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, helpful, and make you feel right at home, just like chatting with old mates.
  • The food's a real treat with great value deals, like that £10 sandwich and drink offer; the pies and fish and chips come highly recommended.
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere in a historic building, perfect for soaking up some local history while enjoying a pint.
  • A top spot for watching the footy or any match, with spacious seating and large screens showing Sky Sports and BT Sport.
Cons
  • Portion sizes can be a bit on the small side, which might leave you feeling a tad short-changed after forking out.
  • Wait times for food can drag on, even when it's not overly busy, which might put a damper on your visit.
  • It can get a bit chilly inside, especially on those crisp winter days, so you might want to wrap up warm.

Really good customer service from Daniel and JP, honestly so helpful and lovely. And the food was good and good value for money. Will be returning.

Called in yesterday for lunch with my friend after a girly morning shopping. This pub is a real ale delight. Ordered lunch brilliant deal sandwich and a drink for £10. A real bargain. Food was excellent, brilliant service, really friendly staff. Will definitely be calling there again.

I like this pub, it sells good food, has a nice atmosphere and lovely staff. Only been in early evening, but I can imagine it being a proper pub at night. Few and far between these days. Love it.

Very friendly, helpful service from staff, both on booking, arrival and throughout vist. Delicious lunch - freshly cooked pie and fish and chips. Great place to watch the football. Nice atmosphere. The only slight minus point, was that it was a bit cold in the pub - but it was an extremely cold day outside!

Very small portion sizes in contrast to previous reviews. 6 pigs in blankets for £5.50 is rather extortionate. It took almost 1 hour for 2 pies to come out - it was not overly busy. The staff were apologetic which was appreciated. Would not recommend as portion sizes are bad and the food is average.
