About This Pub

Ah, the Three Blackbirds in Boxmoor – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart with its friendly vibe and homely feel, tucked away not far from Hemel Hempstead's hustle. I love how the team, especially folks like Lee, go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for one of their cracking quizzes that raise money for great causes. The drinks selection is spot on, with plenty of options to suit all tastes, and the food deals are a real treat – think hearty specials and wallet-friendly weekly offers that make it easy to enjoy without overspending. It's got all the perks too, like being dog-friendly and having a nice beer garden for those sunny days. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few tales of waits that drag on a bit too long for meals, and some folks have mentioned portions that don't quite hit the mark or dishes that needed a bit more care in the kitchen. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2, it's clear this place gets more right than wrong, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a solid spot for a catch-up – just maybe plan ahead for busier times to avoid any hiccups.

I've been coming here for a few years now and it's a fantastic and friendly pub. There's a great selection of drinks, it's dog-friendly and Lee & his team go out of their way to welcome and look after you (and they run a great quiz too!).

Lee and his team run one of the most welcoming pubs I've ever been to. Food is excellent value, the weekly quizzes not only generate great atmospheres but also raise a serious amount of money for great causes, MacMillan in particular. All in, a great place to go for good food, a great selection of drinks but just a nice friendly feel.

Brought our walking group of 9 in for pre-booked Sunday lunch. Good table was set up ready for us, our drinks & food orders were quickly taken. Helpful/friendly/efficient staff. Our roasts/classics were all generous, well cooked/presented and quickly served. Spacious, attractive old pub, uncrowded! Good value, nice Boxmoor village location, recommended

Went in for our Christmas meal, table booked for 1:15pm, by the time the food came at 3:00pm, we weren’t hungry! Portion size on the starter was awful for the value; the steak was drastically undercooked, my mother who was going through cancer treatment at the time had set meal times due to medication, hence why we booked this slot, she was unable to eat by the time the food came! We asked to speak to the manager directly to be issued an apology and he had no interest in coming to the table; spent £50 a head for a meal not even worth £10! Was given a round of drinks and a free cheesecake but was completely besides the point!
