About This Pub
Ah, the Theatre Royal Bar in London – it's one of those places that sounds like a right laugh if you're after a bit of energy and flavour in your night out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this infectious atmosphere, particularly on Fridays with wicked rum punch flowing and people up dancing to good tunes – you can almost picture the fun unfolding. The food selection is a highlight too, with authentic Caribbean dishes that folks rave about, making it feel like a proper hidden gem tucked away in Stratford. But, let's be straight, it's not all smooth sailing; prices can sting a bit for what you get, and service might leave you waiting around or feeling overlooked as staff chat among themselves. Still, if you're up for giving it a go, I'd say it's worth popping in for the positives, just keep your expectations in check for the rough edges – after all, every pub has its quirks, doesn't it?
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is brilliant, especially on Friday nights with great music and everyone dancing – it's just what you need for a fun evening out.
-
They've got a lovely selection of food with authentic Caribbean flavours that really hit the spot, making it feel like a hidden gem.
-
The staff can be excellent when they're on form, and the menu is spot on for a good night with drinks and perhaps catching a play.
Cons
-
Drinks and food tend to be quite overpriced, which might put a dampener on things if you're watching your wallet.
-
Service can be a real letdown at times, with staff sometimes ignoring you or getting caught up in chit-chat instead of helping out.
-
Waiting times for food are often far too long, like over an hour for something simple, which can make the whole experience frustrating.

Only been here on a Friday for last Friday of the month - Wicked rum punch and nice food selection.
Music good, everyone dancing what more could you ask for on a Friday night.
We had drinks and watched a play
Extremely overpriced drinks and food is terrible like the food staff running it.
The bar and theatre staff are terrible and stand there gossiping and ignoring.
The bar staff repeatedly and deliberately ignore you at the bar to serve you despite you being courteous and knowing you are next as they make eye contact
Extremely disappointing. Waited over an hour and 25 mins for Mac n cheese. Which I was originally told would take 30 mins. There seems to be no urgency from the kitchen to ensure guest are eating at the same time. Very very unsatisfactory. I requested to speak to someone, the chef came out who told me that ‘she cannot rush the oven’. I ordered Jerk chicken meal with mac and cheese which was a 5/10 at the best. Jerk chicken was smothered in a hot pepper sauce. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all, from friendliness of staff to the taste of the food.
Excellent venue, Excellent menu, Excellent staff.
This is a hidden gem, deep in the heart of Stratford City ....Island Vibes Kitchen provides you with an authentic carribean flavour to fulfil your culinary delights......Top marks every time.
