About This Pub
Ah, The Woodstock – it's one of those pubs in Manchester that you pop into for a laid-back afternoon or evening, and honestly, it has its charms that make it worth recommending to mates. The atmosphere is just right, with that homely feel and a brilliant beer garden that's perfect for a sunny day, where you can relax with a pint and some flavoursome food. I've heard from a few folks that the service is brilliant too, with staff who are genuinely helpful and make you feel welcome, whether you're there for a family dinner or a quick bite. On the upside, there are some cracking dishes that deliver on taste and value, like a juicy steak that's left people chuffed. But, let's keep it real, it's not all roses – some meals feel a bit pricey for what you get, especially if they're not as fresh as you'd hope, with portions that might leave you eyeing the menu for seconds. All in all, it's a decent shout for a casual visit, but if you're after something more standout, you might want to weigh it against the other options around Didsbury. Give it a go if you're nearby; it's got that easy-going charm that could make for a lovely outing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food hits the spot with tasty options like a well-cooked steak that's surprisingly affordable, making it a real treat for a casual meal.
-
Service is spot on – friendly staff who go the extra mile, suggesting great wines or helping with family choices, which adds to that welcoming vibe.
-
It's got a cracking beer garden, ideal for soaking up the sun on a summer day in Manchester, and the overall atmosphere feels homely and relaxed.
-
A solid spot for groups or family outings, with decent kids' options and a lively setting that's perfect for everything from lazy lunches to celebrations.
Cons
-
Some dishes come across as overpriced, especially when they're clearly just frozen and quickly heated up, rather than freshly made.
-
Portions can be a bit skimpy, like with the chicken burger or chips, leaving you feeling short-changed after the bill.
-
It doesn't always stack up against the other great spots in Didsbury, so you might find yourself wishing for something a tad more special in the town centre.

Loved my steak, quite affordable, and tasty! Great service and it was a lovely experience.
Think overall not a great place considering all that Disbury has to offer, would advise looking more in to the town Centre.
This Mitchell and Butlers is over priced for food that is clearly just stuck in an oven/fryer straight from the freezer.
The highlight was the £8.50 miso chicken skewers- which was probably the equivalent of a 1/3 of a chicken breast on a poor ‘salad’ with a cheap sugary miso imitation sauce. All of the portion sizes were tiny - even for small plates and not representative of the prices charged, with most of them being at least £8. Overall not particularly impressed.
We visited for dinner, which was good. The food wasn't gastropub standard but better than your average chain pubs certainly. It's a lovely old building and has a great, extensive beer garden for summer days.
As a family meal with kids they had good options for the little ones. As it got later the pub definitely became more of a drinking / social spot than a restaurant so perhaps go on the earlier side if you're eating with children.
Really nice beer garden and service was fine. However for the price charged for food and the quality thought it was quite poor. The chicken burger was definitely not home made and very small. The triple cooked chips were also definitely not triple cooked and were very similar to frozen chips from a supermarket. £16 for that was shocking.
Visited this lovely and lively pub for our office Christmas party and it was absolutely amazing. They have their own parking space. The place is very well made. The staff were very friendly. They suggested the best wines and to top it up the food was lip smacking. I ordered the Prawn Linguine in Shell fish sauce and it completely blew my mind. Will definitely visit again. The best part was we found a small little fox in the premises when we were heading towards the parking area, maybe even the fox came to enjoy some drinks 😁
