About This Pub
Ah, The Woodside – it's one of those pubs that just wraps you up in its charm from the moment you step inside. Nestled in a historic spot with ties to Manchester's mining past, it's got this lovely, welcoming feel that makes you want to settle in for the afternoon. The food really steals the show; we're talking proper hearty dishes and seasonal specials that hit the spot every time, and from what I've heard from folks who've been, the service is top-notch – those staff members go out of their way to make you feel looked after, which is just what you want on a lazy Sunday. It's dog-friendly too, so it's great if you're out with your furry mate, and the gardens and fireside nooks add to that relaxed, country pub atmosphere. On the flip side, it does tend to buzz with activity, especially at peak times, so you might find yourself queuing or needing to plan ahead. And while the prices are fair for what you get, they could add up if you're in for a full evening of pints and chats. All in all, it's a gem for anyone seeking a bit of tradition and good times, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind to make the most of your visit.
Pros and Cons

-
It's a charming spot with a homely atmosphere, complete with beautiful gardens, crackling log fires, and even dog-friendly areas, making it ideal for a relaxing outing in a historic setting.
-
The location near rivers, canals, and nature reserves is brilliant for a post-meal stroll, and there's plenty of parking, which is always a bonus when you're out and about.
Cons
-
As it's a popular traditional pub, it can get quite busy, especially on weekends or for events, so you might want to book ahead to avoid any waiting around.
-
With moderate prices, it might feel a bit steep if you're planning a long session with drinks, though the quality makes it worthwhile for most.

The food was amazing, service was excellent. Very polite and considerate. Janet was our server and she was very professional and warm. I got the puy lentil cottage pie and I wasn’t disappointed. Highly recommend.
Lovely meal, service excellent Janet is very attentive. No long waits for food and the Sunday lunches are very good value for money
What a lovely place this is! As soon as you walk in you get that homely feeling. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. And the food is absolutely delicious! 1 million percent recommend this gem!
First time visiting The Woodside on New Year’s Eve 2024. What a fantastic experience! Janet (our waitress) definitely added her personal touch and is obviously a credit to your team. Both food AND drink were spot on Happy New Year to one of the BEST restaurants / pubs we’ve been too in a long time!
This restaurant is seated in a lovely “secret garden”. There are different sitting zones inside — normal dinning and dog friendly area. Loads of parking lots outside. The vibe in there welcomes you in an instant relaxing manner. Booking is straightforward online and the staff are really heart warming. Remembering the first time I have been there, on checking out, the lady proactively told me there is an offer if I downloaded their app to scan the QR code. We got half price off that dinner for two-course meals. This year we booked a table for Valentine’s Day. Food is amazing as always. The scallops and prawns in cheese as a starter were so creamy and I had the ribeye again which is not disappointing. The ice cream on brownie was definitely a delight to finish the night. It was just enough sweet to me and the texture was well controlled in harmony with the smoothness from the ice cream. Last but definitely not least, their cloudy fruity lemonades (3 flavours) all taste fantastic. I would go there even just for the drink. Overall, it is a great place to spend the evening and surely on my top 5 list.
