About This Pub

Ah, The Windmill, what a little charmer it is! I've got to say, from what I've heard and seen, it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a casual evening. The staff are proper gems, always on hand with a smile and quick service, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. That garden out back is a real treat, especially when the weather's playing ball – it's like stumbling upon a secret oasis in the middle of the city. And the drinks? Spot on for the price; you won't feel like you're being ripped off, which is always a plus these days. They're great at showing the big sports events too, with table service that means you can just kick back without queuing. On the flip side, the food's alright but not exactly groundbreaking – it's tasty enough, like those Sunday roasts that folks rave about, but if you're after something more adventurous, you might fancy heading elsewhere, perhaps that kebab spot down the road. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a pint and a chat; I'd pop in again without a second thought, as long as you're not expecting Michelin-star vibes. It's all about that homely feel and good company, really.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and really attentive, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The atmosphere is spot on – it's peaceful with a nice garden that's a hidden gem, especially on a sunny day after work.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, with beers and wines coming in under £7, which is a win for a casual night out.
  • They've got table service, so no faffing about at the bar, and it's brilliant for watching sports with fast, friendly attention.
  • The food gets solid praise, like those superb Sunday roasts, and it's tasty without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • The food is okay but nothing to write home about – one mate mentioned it's not as exciting as popping to the kebab shop nearby.
  • The entrance looks a bit unassuming, so you might hesitate before going in, as it doesn't give away the cosy vibe inside.
  • With all the positive buzz, it can feel a tad overhyped if you're expecting something truly extraordinary.

I always stay for one more than I intend to! The entrance completely hides what is behind, and I was hesitant at first. The staff are lovely and the garden is an unexpected surprise. It’s peaceful and as a lone traveller a great environment to have an after work drink when the weather is fine. Table service avoids the single person hassle of „what do I leave at the table to show I’m still here“ and potentially having to move tables or find a new space after coming back from the bar. *pictures taken on a quiet Monday night. I‘ve only been for drinks, so can’t comment on food.

I’ve been here a couple of times the food is okay nothing crazy. You’re better off going to a kebab shop just down the road. The beer is good. The atmosphere is nice especially when something major is playing. Nice little pub.

We had a fantastic time at The Windmill! The atmosphere was lovely, we felt very well taken care of - cocktails were delicious, servings so big we barely managed to have everything despite the meals being delicious. The servers were so friendly and attentive. And best of all - it was so calm and homely we felt relaxed after an evening in a pub. I couldn't recommend it enough!

What a great place this is, showing all the sport you can think of, fast friendly service (table service I might add) so you don’t need to queue at the bar… fantastic. Beer is a very good price, and the Sunday roasts are superb!

Wonderful find, I walked in and thought that the place was done up really well so it's going to be a pricey large Chardonnay but instead it only cost £6.50 and the most expensive pints are just over £6 too. The place is very clean and the food smells delicious. What made my evening the most was a wonderful staff member called Josh. He was so polite and friendly and extremely helpful, straight away I felt comfortable and welcomed. There's a small bar, and then I realised that there's another large bar through a different door, which apparently does entertainment and live music. There is sport showing on many big screens, this place has everything, I'll definitely be back!
